If I were to rebuild I would build box with the sealed chamber

hook it up then sweep the meter

Then tune the box to that frequency, that's how some of the big boys do it

Or u can just kinda pick a ratio and go for it!

If I were you I would do 3 cubes sealed 9 ported after displacement. 175 inches of port to start and tune to 45hz

Shrink the port if the subs unload after testing, just put 3/4 inch birch inside it shrink to 160ish test then maybe 150 ish prolly not 175 seems legit

Im no genius. Many on there know way more than me

You arnt running a huge power the the big box would help, but the small sealed chamber will bebefit when you actually decide to wire ur amp down or get more power :)

I would reccomend you read the thread on caco called " why 4th orders arnt loud" hankmunch or something I don't remeber his exact name has a ton a great info

Ray (dc98hoe) pointed me to that direction to read some of the best info I've ever gotten about 4th orders!

Don't tune so damn low. at 43 hz, you're gonna need some impressive midbass to fill in the massive gap in your frequency response. 43 hz will be your upper cutoff frequency. after that frequency it's going to taper down quick, especially with such a huge ratio.

some cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches!

Im all for rules of thumb but after talking to jarod about his team nemesis jeep the rules of thumb did not apply to his application so with that being said build as big as possible make it so you can move the sealed side to make it bigger/smaller. then start tuning the loading wall. 4 15's 8.5-9cubes sealed with a 4.5:1 ratio and port tuning around 37Hz keep in mind he's the middleweight bassboxing champ and it peaks at 45Hz with tuning that low.

Yea but that's also 4.5 to 1 ration and u just stated that most of that "normal" info didn't work

He also tested his truck for his peaks!

this guy can't please don't tune so low op

I stand firm on my 45hz tuning as the lowest

I completly agree with build bigger then shrink tho!

no. if you are going for a daily box, max of a 1:3 ratio, tune to 45 hz AT THE LOWEST. you will still be able to hit the low notes better than you think. the port tuning has little effect on how low you can hit.
