6 AA/SMD 18s IN THE HOT SEAT

Recommended Posts

I like the box and the fact that the port is curved.

The only thing that bothers me about the subs up and port back, is that from what I've seen on here (on the forum), they don't seem to do well on numbers even when they are noticeably loud and move alot of air. Could it be that there's too much pressure being loss from flexing the roof with all that sound pressure. I'm curious how it would sound if you "mouthed" the top of the box with a port firing towards the front, so that sound only travels towards the front of the vehicle.

In a way, when you look at the box from the front of the vehicle, it is like a "Quasi-Sixth Order Series-Tuned Bandpass" (from the12volt.com) with the first port being the space between the back of the box and the rear hatch, and the 2nd port being the spacing from the top of the box to the roof. My only issue is that this "second port being the gap from roof to top of box" is flexing, thus losing sound pressure going towards the front, and that it's distance from the top of the box is different than the spacing of the rear of the box to the back hatch.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But keep up the good work, because this system is definitely brutal!

mate dose a 50 using subs up port back on music, he got 2 gz 15's and a stetsom 9k with some bad voltage drop...still got all 5 seats and can do hairtricks with a box not buillt to spec lol anything is possible :)

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but your ear does not perceive AUDIBLE loudness the same way it does PRESSURE. Last I checked, a termlab sensor measured pressure and not the perception of sound. Therefore it is completely possible to have a vehicle that meters crappy SOUND louder than one that meters well.. He built that thing to be a ground pounder that he could bring to competitions for FUN. If he was so focused on throwing big numbers, he'd wall it and tune and burp it at much higher frequencies..
