SOLDER vs. CRIMPING

Recommended Posts

I prefer crimping if it's done correctly. (hydrualic crimper). The only real cons of soldering is that solder always adds a small amount of resistance to the connection and can be time consuming. I have done both but now I just crimp. I'ts quick, reliable, and a good connection.

One of the higher up guys here told me to make a solid crimp, and then afterwards solder the bare wire sticking out by the ring if you use a standard solder type ring. That way, no matter what you do, there is no way that it can be pulled out, and you have a great connection with added insurance.
