I rebuild PC power supplies all the time at work and have become quite familiar with them, amps are rather similar. The length of this unit arose from the need for cooling, despite the huge heatsink across the top they still had to hide another heatsink and fan inside! Otherwise yes, they did give the amp an aggressive/powerful look with the design they chose. I don't mind this because %95 of the people I demo for know nothing about car audio and think it looks cool Wish they did shorten it up though, there are a few more innovative ways they could have.
