logspace Posted May 28, 2012 Author Report Posted May 28, 2012 Yeah I think I'll go with sealed for these. Alpine says to use 0.57-1.0 cubic feet per sub sealed. This seems small to me. What would the ideal sealed volume be?

logspace Posted May 28, 2012 Author Report Posted May 28, 2012 Yeah that's what I have heard also. When I bought them, they were in a ported box. It played rap really well, but I played some rock and dubstep, and the subs were "skipping" notes. It sounded like the music was too fast for the subs to play each note, and blended them together. I don't know if it was a bad box, or those subs just aren't able to play rock and dubstep/house music. I was hoping a sealed box would make the subs quicker and able to hit all the notes.

But I don't really have much option of building one right now. Since they are fairly common subs, do you think there are any decent prefab ones available?

logspace Posted May 28, 2012 Author Report Posted May 28, 2012 I bought them used of some guy on craigslist. So I have no idea about the box. But i didn't like it at all so I gave it away. The subs are in good shape though. Just need to get a good box for them
