Precision Power PC2350 amp guts and specs

kickass audio

Recommended Posts

I have owned this amp myself for about 5 years now and I got it from an old friend of mine. This is one beastly amp and is old school too. It puts out 350w rms at 4 ohms per channel (its a 2 channel amp), 700w rms at 2 ohms per channel, and 1400w rms at 4 ohms bridged. The coolest feature about this amp is that it has a hot-swap design where you can pull the power/ground and speaker connectors without unscrewing them from the terminals.

Here are the specs of the amp from its manual:

Power Bandwidth: 4.5Hz - 100kHz

Total Harmonic Distortion: .02%

Input sensitivity: 150mv to 12v RMS

Input Impedance: 10k Ohms

Load Impedance (stereo): 2-8 ohms

Load Impedance (bridged): 4-8 ohms

Supply Voltage: 11-15 volts

Dampening factor: >500

Slew Rate: >50

QBASS Plus: Up to 18+dB boost

Frequency centers (for bass boost): 30, 36, 44 & 60Hz

Idle current: 3 amps

Crossover: Two way, 24dB/ Octave Linkwitz-Riley

Some awesome features of this amp are the AM IV protection circuit (i dont believe my edition of the amp has it though for how hot i got the amp to get), The thick as hell BUSS bars, 24dB x-over, Balanced Differential input stage, Gold Placed RCA input/output connections, integrated cooling fan, awesome looking metallic grey paint on the chassis and the quick connects for the power and speaker.

Enough talk: how about some awesome pics of this beast:

Are amps look to have the same ammount of caps ? I think the difference is yours is 5" smaller like they made mine smaller into yours for 97 maybe they are still bad amps

Actually you are right, it looked like yours had a few less than mine because of the gaps between how they laid it out on your board where mine are one next to the other near the buss bars. I still have this amp and it is not a bad amp at all. They are extremely regulated and put out near the same amount of power no matter what voltage you have. The biggest thing is that my amp gets really warm fast but from what ive heard the older ppi amps are all like that.

Old regulated amps get toasty unless you feed them 14+ all day. Even then, they can get pretty warm if you use them to their potential. Not at all a problem.

I'm gonna hate

That may have been it. I have damn good electrical that barely moves but i tested the ppi on my truck with it off so it was resting at 12.8 or so.

Wouldn't worry about it in that case. Great amp, I have a couple old Power Class amps bangin around in my garage somewhere, wouldn't post guts due to the heatsink fun.

Yeah the way they design them is a pain to get gut shots of. The back cover holds down the mosfets on the case of the amp and usually taking the cover and lifting it up will cause some fets to lift up and when that happens best practice is to put new thermal paste down on the surface of the mosfets.

If you ever unseat or disturb a component coupled to a heatsink the thermal compound between them will need to be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and re-applied. That's a rule you learn quickly doing electronics repair, just wish removing PPI sinks didn't entail breaking that rule by the task's very nature.

I'm gonna hate
