the power and ground keep the memory of your settings while off

Ive had pioneers for quite some time, you need 3 wires to make them turn on. The all yellow wire is for the battery +, the all black wire is for the battery - or ground, the red wire that is next to the yellow wire is the accessory turn on and will go to the + of the battery. That red accessory wire will be your ticket to getting the radio turned on and off. If you have the power and ground connected and nothing else the radio wont do shit. You have to get that accessory wire to the positive terminal to tell the radio to turn on.
