Weren't the older ones silver?

The much older models. There could have been revisions after the jump to the black body, but they would have been minor. Send it my way for inspection :P

I thought the newer ones have m3a on the front. And the first black case series wasn't low voltage amps.

Hes worried about it not being a lv amp

Does anyone know if this is a low voltage model of the amp? Also does any one know if they can be ran on 16 volts

Take your serial and send it to Digital Designs and see what they can tell you. Tough to call by just looking at it :/

flip it over and there shyould be a manufacturers date sticker on it. that and the serial number will have to be sent in to DD

they can track it by serial only too but it may take them a little longer and more work.if they know when it was made they can just look at that time frame.

That's why it's always smart to have date codes for at least the year in your serial, like on Gibson guitars.
