I say just stick with what you have. Most amps that put out that power at 4 ohms are kind of expensive. What if you don't notice a difference?

subwoofers - two eclipse 88120s

box - 3.4 cubes tuned to 32 hz

amps - aq1200 and pheonix gold zx450

New build :

2 obsidian audio 15s

same amp

6.1 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hz in a civic hatch

http://www.rockfordf...x?itemid=117366 easily does 1500+ @ 4 ohms. I have looked into what you want to do, and I really couldn't find many amps that put out a significant amount of power @ 4 ohms besides these guys. Looked at DC even. To get 2k watts @ 4 ohms out of a DC amp oyu need to go with the 7.5k which is rediculous if u want 4 ohm output lol. GL on the search though. And if you ever do find one, let me know if there is a difference. I would love to guess there is a difference, when you go from 60-70% effiencincy up to 85-95%.

Edit: Lol ninjad.

fuck the plating. look at what the main metal used is. you could buy unicorn blood plated terminals but if its just covering up dog shit, whats the point

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

Your gonna spend a lot of money just to see if it "sounds better". If power and signal clarity are the same then the only difference you will see is as a result of the quality of the amplifier.

I'd say just invest in a better quality amp, not a more powerful one.

thanks for all the replys. i love the amp i have now i was just curious as to how much it would be to push it @ 4 ohms instead of 1. i could probly get away with an amp thats running 750x2 rms @ 2ohms. and run a voice coil of each one. im just thinking of different ways that i could run in

running it at a higher impedence should increase efficiency.... so you SHOULD see a little better results at 1500wrms @4ohms than 1500wrms @1ohm

Like everyone said, it'll be really expensive and not worth it. just stick with a 1ohm load

Bridge a powerful 2-channel amp.

The DD S2b is rated at 1600 bridged @ 4 ohms and 2700 @ 2 ohms.

http://www.ddaudio.com/products/mobile-audio/amplifiers/full-range-amplifiers/s-series/s2b.aspx

Anything high end at around 400w x 2 should bridge to around 1500 watts.

It's going to be very costly on your electrical though, as most of these types of amps are class AB.
