heydude348 Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 Need help tuning a sealed enclosure with a JL 10W7 powered by a JL 500/1.Really looking for a good starting point as far as initial amp settings.Not looking for a low,low hitting sound.More of a tight sound.Less "buzz" more mid punch.Looking to build a custom fiberglass enclosure, so it won't be the traditional "square/rectangular" design.How will that design affect sound, an what kind of size/dimensions should I be looking at?The build is a 2000 Integra.Going to have two 10W7 in two separate "mirror" enclosures, so any suggestions would be great.Thanks. CleanSierra Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 An O-scope or a DD-1 to check for clipping and tune just under if you want max clean power. Telling you a setting is impossible because it's all about matching voltages with the HU and amp. It also depends on the voltage the amp is being fed by the vehicle. To put it bluntly, NO one can tell you to put your gain at so many quarters of a turn or a numbered setting, because it just does not work that way. Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. Crossover to what sounds good to your ear but generally in the 50-70hz range. That's about it. Build both and stay with what you like. I've built two jlw7 12 in a ported box and they sounded fantastic in all music.
