Mikey Bates
How can i make my box volume smaller and raise tuning without building another box. i heard someone say you can add dense pillows and strap them down. My sub make be bottoming out due to over powering and box to big so any suggestion will help. thanks guys

c.director
you can use anything to take up volume, I would start with a wall and layer it with MDF until I got the dimensions I wanted. This will also raise your tuning. The best option is to build a new box. Nikitaaa
You would know for sure if your sub was bottoming out on you. (Sounds like SHIT) And pillows? Uhhh, I don't think so.. Raising tuning will only make it bottom harder on lower notes so my suggestion would be to turn your gain down, and ssf up until you can safely reach max excursion without hitting bottom. If you really want to remove so volume from your box, you can pretty much add anything in that will take up space, and not obstruct air flow 2007 M/T Honda Civic Coupe EX (4) Sundown Audio X-8's (2) Ampere Audio 3800.1's (3) Stinger SPV-44 Batteries (1) Mechman 240 3:1 Ratio 4th order sealed from the trunkTEAM NWSPLBest termlab scores to date in Honda trunk:151.7db legal (official) IASCA trunk 3 classBest termlab scores to date in my walled Subie:152.9db legal (unofficial) IASCA advanced 2 class155db outlaw
AB18VFL
me and some friends were doing SPL testing, and my sub started bottoming out. we put a few bricks in the back of the box, and it gained me 1.4dB. Ik thats just a temporary thing, but you could screw a block of wood into the back of the box. best bet would be to build a new one though. bassface
Yeah if you wanted to decrease the volume inside the box it would be a good time to add additional bracing, like 2x4's or something. You could kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
