satish1015 Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 hey guys.. is it possible to wire an 8 ohm super tweeter with a 4 ohm mid range speaker? if so, what will the final impedance be? kandiman71874 Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 Ummm, i hope you don't just plan to wire the 2 up to the same wire with no crossover. Do it properly with at least a passive crossover of some type or your tweeter is going to be a hurtin mofo trying to play midrange frequencies and end up getting damaged. For an amp that is 1,2 and 4 ohm stable, will it also be stable at 2.6 ohms? Ummm, i hope you don't just plan to wire the 2 up to the same wire with no crossover. Do it properly with at least a passive crossover of some type or your tweeter is going to be a hurtin mofo trying to play midrange frequencies and end up getting damaged. I definitely will be running a crossover with it. I have an extra set of crossovers from my o2's that i will probably use for now. But just in case, what would you recommend that I use? The amp will be fine. If those crossovers were made for 4ohm tweeters then the crossover points are going to be different with the 8ohm tweeter connected. I'd just use a capacitor inline on the tweeter. Quote

I have used this site http://www.diyaudioandvideo.com/Calculator/XOver/ in order to determine what capacitor i would need for the tweeter. Thanks.
