diatribe Posted June 26, 2012 Report Posted June 26, 2012 Depends on the sub and its location in the vehicle. Usually there is a sharp drop in volume after the tuning frequency, but that does not mean no sound.

Is there a formula to figure it out? You are looking for the F3 point, there is a formula but it doesn't work inside a car due to cabin gain, the in car F3 will be lower than outside. When you tune high usually the box/sub response will peak a lot, that will make harder for you to listen frequencies above and below the range of frequencies where the peak occurs. Normally tuning lower will result in all frequencies being being played more evenly.

When you say car..what do you mean exactly? And.. My box is 38"wide, 28" deep, and 14.75" tall with a 4.5" port tuned to 33.5 hz with 2 SA15s on a Soundstream TX.2000D. If that helps at all
