Jordan Guess
So I just tried to install my new clarion equalizer and it turns on and everything, but fails to control the volume control and equalizer setting. I will explain my wiring, and hopefully someone may have a solution? Right now my deck is a sony cdx-gt56ui with only one pair of RCA outs on the back. I hooked the equalizers main auxiliary in from the head unit's one pair, and that didn't work, so i eventually just tried every single input on the back of the equalizer (sub, main, aux, front, rear) and none of them worked still. For my power, ground, and remote wiring: I have a solid no spliced wire coming straight from the battery for the 12v connection. my ground is spliced with my head units ground. and my remote is spliced with my sub amplifier remote. The only conclusion I could come up with is that my deck's RCA's are just refusing to work with the EQ because its not a high quality deck, but thats all I could come up with. Your help is appreciated, thanks.
HatersGonnaHate
Is the EQ hooked up to any other amp? It should be.... Head unit RCA to EQ, then another set of RCA's to either a sub amp, or an amp for the door speakers, or both. Whatever you have. Jordan Guess
yes, I had it hooked up to a sub amp but still wouldn't work. And shouldn't the equalizer be able to tune the speakers running off the head unit or no?
LZTYBRN
yes, I had it hooked up to a sub amp but still wouldn't work. And shouldn't the equalizer be able to tune the speakers running off the head unit or no? No. How the hell would it do that? What exactly do you mean when you say it doesn't work? Does it turn on? Do you get any sound at all from your subs?
Jordan Guess
The equalizer lights up, but does not control the volume of anything, even when i had the RCA's from sub out to my sub amp and the head unit's rca's to the main aux in. HatersGonnaHate
Is there a setting on the head unit to switch the RCA output between sub and rear? If so, switch that setting, see if that works. The EQ won't tune your mids off the headunit or control the volume, you'd need a seperate amp for that.
