baggedon4s
I have a customer who has 2 sa-12's, he asked us to build him a box...he said he has been in contact with Jacob at sundown and the box we built is completely wrong, and will not even try it. I havent seen any of his equipment, but he tells us he is going to run the subs at .5ohm on a 1500 watt hifonics brutis amp that has sundown internals. the box we came up with was 34W x 14H x 19.25D 3.28cuft before subs displacement. Port 3.5W x 12.5H x 30.5L tuned @ 33hz, 14.6sqin per cube (with subs). the subs share the same air space, and port. we found this actually off a web site, that someone is running this box, with the same power, in the same car and said it was better than the box that was built to factory specs.,but the customer swears the subs can not share the same air space. If Iam way off...any direction would help. I know its near a holiday, and sundown is busy..ive sent a couple emails, and called a few time...but know how business is...so no worries there Quote 99 suburban, ranger rover headlights, SS front bumper, roll pan with frenched tag, 2nd row delete, glassed dash..audio to come whenever I figure out what I want. Kranny
customer sounds like a complete dumbass. sundown internals? lol. subs can share the same air space. its perfectly fine. if the box you built was to sundown specs, then it will work perfectly fine. customer is just a fucking idiot that thinks he knows everything.
baggedon4s
I dont know if its to spec or not..I think spec calls for around 2cuft per sub. But since audio isnt our shops primary focus, I like to search the web forums for stuff that has worked for other people with audio brands I dont have experience with..and sundown isnt real big around here...this is the only set that has ever come through our shop. If it were say Kicker or Memphis...since Iam a dealer for both, I just call up the tech line, tell them power, sq or spl, and what subs, and they give me what they have had worked for them...and alot of times, what they say isnt near whats on the spec sheet. KillaCam
The customer is wrong but I guess in any case the customer is right. If he runs that amp at .5 ohm he is not gonna have a good time. BeAlLsTaR13
need a little more airspace and a little less port area and it'll be a good box but i can assure you no hifonics amp has sundown internals, and the subs love sharing the same chamber Quote Team Sundown Audio**CURRENT** -- 2012 Scion tC Build Click Here **OLD** -- 2002 Pontiac Grand AM Build Click Herecheck them out, slap me a comment2002 Pontiac Grand AM SE 2.2l 4 cylinder ecotec.-------------------------------------------------------------------Head Unit - Alpine CDA-9887Subs - 2x Z 12 v.2s - v.3 + NS Soft partsAmplifier - Sundown Audio SAZ-3500DEnclosure - 3.33 Cubes tuned to 34.66hzFront Stage - JBL P660c 6.5" ComponentsRear Deck - Powerbass 4xl 6.5" Mid-RangeFront Stage Amplifier - Sundown Audio SAX-100.4DWires - Kicker Hyperflex 1/0, KnuKonceptz 1/0, Knu 4 and 8 Gauge, Kicker RCAsElectrical - 275 AMP DC Power H/O Alternator, XS Power S3400, XS Power D2700Videos - http://www.youtube.com/user/BeAILsTaR13-------------------------------------------------------------------
baggedon4s
he kept saying 2cu ft per sub....Iam at 3.28cuft with 14.6sqin of port per cu ft.....like I said, not my design....just something I found net surfing, that someone else said worked for them...Ive already built the box...he took it with him..came back two day later and said it was wrong....never put the subs in it. I think he wants his box chambered because if he blows one...he can play the other.....and if he is this great with enclosure specs he cant build or figure out...then blowing a sub or two seems likely Edited June 28, 2012 by baggedon4s Quote 99 suburban, ranger rover headlights, SS front bumper, roll pan with frenched tag, 2nd row delete, glassed dash..audio to come whenever I figure out what I want. BeAlLsTaR13
that sounds almost like a a-trends e12dtv pre fabbed box never used a prefab box, never will also that e12dtv box isnt close to 4 cubes, its 3.9 gross before any port or woofer displacment, in all reality that box is 1.25 cubes per chamber.
