tried with a DD-1, actually 2 seperate DD-1's,(and yes i know how to use it) and apparently i clip at volume 44 on a pioneer deck, and with the gain at like 1/8, needless to say you dont hear bass.

so i then just go by ear.

Pioneers shouldnt clip...

PS: i let others try it too, who also know what theyre doing and its the same result

I am asking this because if your port is 5 inches wide, then the port wall goes back so far, and lets say there is only 4 1/2 inches between where the port ends and the wall, this could be whats causing the problem.

I've seen it happen before in error box builds and cause problems like your having, thats why i am asking, where the port area starting inside the box is smaller than the actual port area itself

i would look into switching head units. maybe just pick up a cheapie to test with and keep on a shelf somewhere for worst case scenarios. somethign isnt right. I know people dick ride Knu but Ive never really been a fan of any of it at all. Same thign with pioneer heads. which pioneer is it? Do you havet he SLA and all that stuff off etc? you could be missing something tiny. I know on my head unit LOUD is on by default.

You set I with a dd1 and then after go by ear ? Lol your clipping, if you gotta turn it up higher to hear bass that means ur just use to having 3k, time to move up in amps or keep getting recones ...

Pioneers and most head units do clip, Mine clips at 34 out of 40 . ..and I still only play it at 30/40..

But my pioneer 4300. Comes stock with "loud" setting on, turn that off ! If you have that on clipping starts early at volume 20s !

the weird thing is pre ground loop it didnt clip and i was able to set it

i ended up getting another pioneer deck for a direct swap....ground loop of course...these things are terrible.
