Sub Wiring

Recommended Posts

It is a 1 ohm load 100%. Think of it like this. If you have one subwoofer lets say a dual 2 ohm coil setup. When you wire it in parallel like you did it will be at 1/2 the impedance of ONE coil reading (going from 2 ohms for one coil to a 1 ohm reading with both coils) Now if you wire it in series you will double the resistance and go from 2 ohms per coil to 4 ohms with both coils.

Think of it like this: For a single sub you will take 1/2 the original impedance you have for ONE individual coil when you wire it in parallel. You will double that original impedance for ONE individual coil when you wire the sub in series.

Well the terminals on the mono amp act as just one terminal. So both the positives are on the same lead, it's just for wiring convenience.

Ranger is right. The + and - leads are connected in the amp as one terminal. If you are still confused just use one set of terminals and wire the subs up as normal.
