purplesyrup
reply to all, thanks for all the feedback, Im not looking to try to blow out the glass or anything, I just wanted to be sure everyone was happy with the performance per price, and get some enclosure size ideas. I may run it through a meter, but all enclosure I build are for SQ/SPL so they are loud, get low and sound great with music. So, 1.5 to 1.75 is recommended for the 10, The design I do will likely be at 2 cu ft tuned to 36. Again thanks for all the feedback. AQ seems to be the way to go for a system that will bang well for the price AMI CUSTOMS, so 1200RMS wont get it moving well? I understand how underrated DD is, AQ being the same company, can relate. But I am going for reliability also. Keep in mind, Im going for the smash factor in little space. So it stays clean and I can have some room for some cases of wine and groceries (i will continue to optimize my wine barrel to be as loud as possible while still musical, I just need a break in the heat to finish it up. I am also absorbing all your info, because it looks like we are going to do an AQ HDC3 18" in my stepsons deville FTMFW LOL I want to keep the white car clean, but the deville Im thinking 6cu ft, tuned low, want to cave in the roof of the car lol Edited July 10, 2012 by purplesyrup

I am also absorbing all your info, because it looks like we are going to do an AQ HDC3 18" in my stepsons deville FTMFW LOL i wouldn't go 2 cubes man. I am a SQ/ SPL daily pounder as well. I build everything to be musical and I hope it gets loud too. the tuning at 36 is fine. personally with AQ id do 38 but 36 will work. it will punish lows. but at 2 cubes net it may get a little sloppy. if your aiming to put it on the AQ 1200D get the D1 coils and run at .5 ohm put in no larger than 1.75 or it will be less musical. keep around 15-16.5 sq inches of port per cube. if you want complete reliabiliy just get the D2 and run at 1 ohm. but personally i think youd be fine running that amp at .5. lus the smaller box will give you more room for the wine!! and to previous comments. I am in college too and I work my a$$ off so i can afford DD in addition to paying for a big ten college. it is possible. im going to be runing DD 9512s. keep working and youll get there. RAM5493
Hey guys thanks for the info. what size tuning and port area would you guys recommend for 2 HDC3 12's... It would be in an Scion Xb with subs up and port back. and powered buy a AQ3500. this is not for sure now, I have a little budget system and would take a while to be able to put everything together but I've been bouncing around ideas for a build and since I would still have to budget myself with my part time job and full time student status an AQ set up seems pretty possible for me with their awesome pricing. Popwarhomie
I ran 2 HDC3 10"s on an AQ3500 in 3.00 cubes net tuned to 35 hz with 2 4" aero ports. They get loud and like ALOT of power. Great subs. Quote 2010 Focus coupe- 8 12" wall. 157.5@46hz 2016 Focus ST - SQ build.
