how to wire 6 10s

if you are asking this question on here I don't feel you need to run 6 subs or it would just be a waste of time. are you building a box for them? how much power too? usually when people do bigger builds they have done some research before jumping right in. this is kinda basic. not trying to be a dick but are you really prepared to do a build with 6 subs?

I'm aware of what it takes to do 6 subs, I'm just trying to ask and recheck what I think.

The point of this build for me is I'm getting rid of my 2 zx1500s & my 4 12 cvxs and going with a lower wattage system with more cone and motor. I've been wanting to do this, I'm staying around 1k rms.

1998 Pontiac grand prix gtp supercharged2 12" Obsidain Audio V.1 on a 2011 zx1500.1 at 2 ohms. 20ft of Knuconceptz CCA 0 Guage. 2nd Battery is a Shurken BT-120. Box is 3.5cu tuned at 31.8hz sealed off from the trunk. 14sqft of Dynamat on the Rear deck top & bottom. Soon to be more for doors/roof. Gets low & loud

Did a 140.5 Sealed at Battle of the boom in June 2013 dropping to 12.7v (need a alt mines going bad)

The point of this is to stay under 1k rms.

& If I run 2 amps I will do 3 subs in a seperate chamber then the others and get a second set of rcas

I think it would be cheaper to buy one amp that does the power you're looking for at 2ohms instead of getting 2 1ohm stable amps. If you were running a lot of power then I would definitely suggest 2 amps strapped together

here's a great example, 1000wrms @ 2ohms. or to account for the 2.67ohm load you might want to get an amp that does 1200wrms @ 2ohms instead?

Edit: doesn't have to be strappable like Emmet stated

if you do two amps then you need to make sure that they are strappable

just curious, how much power do you want to run?

No you dont, you can just gain match.

very true, my mistake lol. Will this require 2 remote gain knobs though?

ok. what 10s are you using? 1k or less is not that much for 6 subs. will they be able to move? your going with a sub rated 300 or less?

edit: go with 1 amp. after rise and impedence rise you will be closer to 1 ohm. for example my D2 DD9512s are wired to .5 nominal but they read .8 ohms before rise when i measure them. what looks good or bad on paper is not real world results.

3 15" cone surface area = 2670 square centimenters.

6 10" cone surface area = 1980 square centimenters.

If you want efficiency is easy to see where to go.

I do want efficient on small power. But I just have a question about that. Other than the box problems that creates for me with 6 10s wouldn't I have more motor driving force than 3 15s?? That's how I see it

Depends on the subs.

I am planning on going with 6 kicker comp 10s, 150rms ea they say. I'm planing on those cause I can get em for like $40ea New cause of where I work discounted

Oh my bad I would be talking kicker comps for the 10s cause how cheap I get em, 40$ea New. Unless anyone has any better suggestions on subs for under 1k rms but my goal is most efficent here

im on board with this. but why 6 10s? if your looking for punch i think more cone area will hwlp you in addition to bigger motors. yea you have 6 smaller motors but 3 bigger motors will be more forceful if you went with 15s
