Bump4life
Does anyone know of an SPL comparison between numerous subs? say, ranging from 300 watts to 1000watts or so? obviously same setup, same car, same amp. I've been playing with the old Pioneer 305c subs, as well as some Pioneer 307s, as I already had them. But am now looking to "upgrade" without spending too much, and really want a guaranteed SPL increase! thanks! NO way to guarantee an SPL increase other than the most obvious solution: GIANT SUNDOWN AUDIO sticker. Seriously though OP, you're looking for SPL on a tight budget? Start learning how to build a good enclosure. Already got that, now I need "better" woofers something with a bit more potential cone excursion is probably the main criteria. it sounds like you want the key to making your car louder and as you put it "guaranteed SPL increase". if you really knew about SPL you would know, just as cleansierra said, there is no way AT ALL of knowing. you are asking for a comparison yet at the same time you want the answer if brand x sub or model x sub will be louder than brand z or model z. you are the same as the rest of the noobs to SPL. I was once a noob just like you asking the same damn questions. and yea im no expert which is why i still ask and post questions so some experienced people can chime in. but you are just trying to argue with me when you are the one asking questions. i am answering them for you. and yet again if you knew anything about SPL and trunk cars, you would know that they are hard as hell to get loud and that even a 140 is a good score for daily in them. check out this thread if you dont believe me. plenty of experienced members have agreed that trunks are hard to get loud regardless of "how small the cabin is". have you ever sat in the BMW 7 series 4 door or a mercedes S class or a fucking crown Vic? tell me how easy it is to pressure those oh so small cabins out of a trunk. http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 i am sure your wagon has its own difficulties getting loud considering it is already down under, but dude just dont argue when you ask a question on here. you are the one asking for help. we dont want to offer our help then get argued with about it. i thought i gave you a pretty good answer too. do you want me to repeat my answer or can you look a few posts above to see it. Then dont help, pull the sand out of your vag also. really? i dont see you helping at all making meaningless posts calling guys dbags and telling me to take the sand out of my vag. if you know about this why dont you help him instead of clogging up his thread. OP i wish i could have helped more. sorry. but i guess you already have this figured out. good luck. My car I have does not have folding seats and that is a lot harder to get loud from my trunk. I gladly invite you to try to get loud through a solid foam seat. best so far i've gotten to hit was a 132..

TigerTony
That's at the most power I would put to the sub I have, and before I start clipping... About 650-750 rms daily in a box built for power. So, I don't think i'm going to get any louder then that at the moment. It's a lot harder than you'd think as Bump4Life posted. Edit: The Sub is rated at 400.
SlamminBeats
hmmmm maybe, just dont know why a person doing a 146 would ask this question Why dont you stop being a doucebag and offer some helpful suggestions easier to just ignore him. I can see why he'd be annoyed when he has top of the line digital designs 12's doing the same numbers im willing to bet my DD's are louder to the ear, f*ck number. Have fun pretending to be loud with walmart subs
SlamminBeats
big wagon, small sedan... I dunno, I reckon they'll be pretty comparable such an amateur statement, you dont know a thing about spl. and i do understand your first question, and have from the beginning. Its common f*cking sense for a person who knows anything about spl. once again, buy the subs with different rms levels and test them out yourself. nobody can tell you. fkn amateurs i swear... OP what brands are you currently able to purchase locally? Do you want brand name subs or looking at getting some of the brands we here use? 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2

Have fun pretending to be loud with walmart subs yeah, keep telling yourself that... that's the spirit! such an amateur statement, you dont know a thing about spl. and i do understand your first question, and have from the beginning. Its common f*cking sense for a person who knows anything about spl. once again, buy the subs with different rms levels and test them out yourself. nobody can tell you. fkn amateurs i swear... it's common sense to know which entry level subs suffer from the least power compression, and have the highest sensitivity, best/most linear cone excursion, resulting in the greatest SPL? really? how is this common sense? the power rating's of the subs had nothing to do with the question, I thought you just said you understood the question?
