I have been following around on here for a few years now as a guest and finally decided to put something together recently. I have always had stereos in my vehicles but never to this extent. In high school about 10 years ago now I filled my trunk with (4) Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1Ds and I still have them to this day and they still work great in the car.

I decided to put a system in the rusty Blazer finally since I have a buddy who is into car audio and goes to the competitions around here. It was funny for a while since everywhere I sat and bumped away, it left piles of rust! That seems to have slowed down now as a lot of it has fallen off.

For my build I didn't want to spend too much but I wanted to go fairly big.

I purchased:

(2) Audioque HDC418s

(4) Audiopipe APSM 1500s (two strapped per sub)

(1) Audiopipe AP2004

(3) biggest Fleet Farm deep cycles I could find

(2) 220 Amp Alternators (only one hooked up currently)

All wiring from KnuKonceptz

SMD DD-1

Pioneer MVH-8200BT (already had this)

Kenwood Tweets

Audiopipe 6.5s to replace the factorys (wasn't expecting a hole lot for the price but do just fine for what I want them for on high pass)

I'm sure there is something I am missing, but all I can think of at the moment.

The first day was ripping out all the interior and running my power wire as well as RCAs and remote wire.

The next day after everything was put in and running, I didn't wait very long on loosening the subs up but oh well they survived!

After some adjustments and tweaking around and filling holes in the tailgate:

My first competition, Real SPL. Averaged a 149.9 between 30,38,40,50 Hz, not too bad

Got the 8s in a box:

I made a new box as the first one was too big! Dropped it down from 12 cubes to 9 cubs and wow what a difference it makes, also changed tuning from 34 to 38. At least to the ear its a big improvement and there sure is a lot more air being pushed around now. I always read to double the volume for two subs but apparently I was wrong. As one sub calls for around 6 cubes i figured 12 for two. But I took some advice and made a new one at 9 and raised the tuning a bit. Also mounted the amps off of the box as I wouldn't think the vibration is good for them!

No more sliding back:

I had to rig up the rear view mirror as the glue would just break loose from the window in like 2 seconds. Pulled a screw from the overhead console and put in a longer one through the mirrors base to hold it up there!

Can't wait to meter it again with the changed box but I would think It is going to be an improvment.

For the price they are awsome. The only complaint is upon first startup the cooling fans in all 5 amps are fairly loud but they spin down and get quiet after a minute or so. Once the music is on not like it matters anyways. The do rated power and some according to my clamp tests, but I am running them at around .88 ohm after rise when they are rated for 1.

There kinda like a Chevy loud till they warm up haha...so being @.88 do they heat up at all

Yes they do get fairly warm but haven't had any problems, it's not like burning or anything. I'm thinking of putting a computer fan to blow across each amp for some extra cooling, but haven't gotten that far yet.

Did some farting around tonight and shot a couple more hair trick videos, sure love the amount of air flying around in there! Also found a nice hole to patch as it feels like a fan blowing on you while standing several feet away.The db's are escaping lol.

This, is awesome. My first vehicle was a black 94 Blazer S10 Sport. I can hardly find anyone doing anything with them, let alone a good size build. Looks great man! Rather nice and clean for a first build. How do you like those AQ's? I'm tuned in for updated numbers!

welcome to the forum first of all. looks really nice, the retro cluster gauge is pretty cool.

How does it sound with the 8's in there too? I have always wondered what it would sound like if you had the whole spectrum of sub sizes lol
