im planning on starting my first build, its not going to be fancy or for competition, but only for good sound. im getting 2 Rockford Fosgate P1s8-12 just to start off in a bit.

my question is: should i get 2 separate amps (1 for each sub) or 1 to power both?

brand names and models could be useful.

thanks.

Run one amp, as that would be the easiest. And if I were you, I'd get an amp that has two channels so you can bridge the channels to get the most output you can at 4 ohms. 2 8 ohm subs will wire to a final load at the amp of 4 ohms. P1s won't take a lot of power, so you can get an amp like a Fosgate P5002 and call it a day.

P.S. A box that is built well and designed well, will be the best way to ensure you get the most out of your subs.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
