I need a common chamber box plan

Recommended Posts

You need to atleast double the face, and brave the hell out of it,

Or your wish you had, when your rebuilding it in an few months,

Idd do

2 1"dowel front to back

1 side to side at back of port

2 inside port side to side

1 on each side to port wall

And 2 top to bottom( 1 each side)

Ok this was my plans

2" face

3/4 every wear else

Two 2" braces top to bottom

Two 2" braces side to side

Two 2" braces front to back

I need one in the port ?

My original plan I had the box 22.5 deep

But I gave second thought and wanted a big front

So it would have been a little different but it wouldn't have changed internal

Why couldn't I do 10*10*4.09 something like that my port length was and I can get the port length perfect all the way up to 12x24 peice of wood I have a laser marker at my work

I keep getting told my port isn't good enough but no one has helped me in telling me why

ok, what is the "minimum" air space the subs allow for ported. Looks like you may have to go aero port to get the port area you want. Also, everyone is recommending more port area because too little can cause port noise and other issues. Port area is as critical as the volume your subs are in because the air in the port moves back and forth and helps control cone movement as well as how the box sounds.

If you go 3/4" for the outer shell of the box you will need mode bracing. I'll leave it up to you to convince everyone to design a box with that option. But remember, you did ask for help and you are getting it. Sometimes we have to sacrifice a little to get what we want.

With 3/4 all round you can get more port then you need,

2" front isn't nessercerly 1.5" is good enough,

Your only as strong as your weakest piece,

If you use square for bracing you need to round the edges,

As for brace in port if you run top to floor at 7" you'll need it, some just use 3/4 mdf down the centre splitting top from bottom, NOT left to right

So you are saying throw out square port and do huge slot port ?

And 3/4 mdf down The center all the way to the back of box as in separating the two set of subs ?
