Stupid question but what is the PROPER way to safely remove an amp from your car? Do you remove the ground first? from the amp or the battery? also with positive?. It's been a while since I removed them, don't want to ruin anything. I hear so many ways to do it but there should be the right way. I was not sure if I could just take the Power and ground out of the amp terminals or if they had to come off the battery first. Same with installing them? Thanks

current flow is neg to pos. remove neg first then fuse then pos. I'm sure there are a thousand different opinions, my training points to this.

Remove neg at the power source first.

This is the correct first step. too drunk to think straight. it is a pain in the ass if you have multiple batts though

also this should be the first step before doin pretty much any maintenance on your car.

all of us are saying the same thing except for one. go with the masses.

I just said it is a pain in the ass with multiple batts. it's still the proper thing to do.

I agree with aerickson here. After you remove the fuse, you really have nothing to worry about (as long as you're only messing with the amp). Easiest way to do it, and as long as you know wtf you're doing, shouldn't present any hazards.

I wouldn't stress about doing it the "proper" way. Just be smart about it and you'll be good. With multiple batteries, the "proper" way could honestly be unreasonable. Not to mention it'll reset the memory on your H/U and other devices.

Taking the - off the battery first is going to stop all power going to the amplifier. Then just unhook everything and put the - back on the battery terminal. This is the SAFE way to do it

So i remove the amps Ground from the battery first and then unhook everything else? Is that correct? To unhook my batteries grounds would take a very long time.
