it says on their website it does 1800watts @ 2ohms. Try helping yourself maybe?

Exactly what I'm getting at. A 1500 watt sub running two ohms off a DC 3.5k seems to be a pretty good match.

If I ran a 3.5k amp at 2 ohm instead of 1 ohm, would I still need the electrical reserve (number of batteries) as I would for a 1 ohm load?

^^^^ This was my original question.

you can save money and just get a amp that does 1500 at 1ohm. but do what you want its your money. how abou this i buy you a amp that does 1500 at 1 ohm and you give me the 3.5k B)

Where do you get that I am complaining about a 3.5k or anything to make you think I don't want a 3.5k? Yeah a 1500 watt amp is good, but after box rise and music dynamics, having some extra wattage is what I'm after. God-damn, does anybody read the first post or do you just read the last few and think you have it all figured out?!

well i saw that you were only running one sub instead of two so i though i would just ask why. but the 3.5k is a great amp and you can upgrade down the road.

I'm not running anything right now. Just trying to get things figured out for what I want to run. I just bought a VW Passat and don't want to give my whole trunk up for two subs, so one is what I'm planning on and I want a little head room with power from the amp. I am perfectly okay with spending whatever I need to spend on proper electrical, I was simply trying to find out if I would need to beef my electrical up to the point of running the 3.5k at a 1 ohm load if I am going to run it at a 2 ohm load.

other than the amp being a bit more efficient, the electrical requirement for 1800 watts is pretty much the same no matter what amp is doing 1800 watts. Yes, running a 3.5k at 2ohms is less electrical than running it at 1ohm. There is really no benefit for you to do that though, so if you haven't bought the amp yet, buy one that is closer to the 1ohm power output you need. If you already have the amp, then you can run it at 2ohms and do just fine.

Thank you MrSkippyJ. That was an explanation that I can use. I don't have the amp yet, so I will look at an amp that will run around that power at one ohm. Thanks again.
