RobertR Posted September 6, 2012 Author Report Posted September 6, 2012 Ah i get it now Strangeduck. Unfortunately I am starting to think that the box I have is about as big as I can go. So unless there is some secret box design that will let me get to my spare tire and still give me 4 cubic feet net volume that I'm too stupid to figure out......Im stuck with the box size I have. Im going to start over from scratch. Here are the specs on my current box that barely fits.... BMW 325i Kenwood KVT-647DVD re xxx components re 6.5 FR's 2 RE XXX 12's 2 US amps MD3D's 2 batcap 4k's
RobertR Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 I know this is kind of an old thread but my situation has changed a little. I had originally decided to just leave the cvx's in this box and stay with the 1200.1 amp and concentrate on my next build since this set up was only meant to be a temp system till I could do my sa-12 build. Some things have come up and its going to be even longer before I can start my new build. So..........now Im back to trying to figure this out. I have decided that I no longer need to have access to my spare tire. This is my daily driver but it is never more then 3 or 4 miles from my home so if I get a flat I can just walk my lazy ass home. Im going completely back to the drawing board. I need 4 cubic feet after sub and port displacement and tuned to 35 hrz. I am not really sure about box design. Ill post a pic of my trunk and see what you guys think. Im really thinking the only way to get the size I need is to build it in the trunk. The problem is I I have never built a box before and although there are several box build threads I have yet to see one that explains the best way to build the box IN the trunk. Idea's? BMW 325i Kenwood KVT-647DVD re xxx components re 6.5 FR's 2 RE XXX 12's 2 US amps MD3D's 2 batcap 4k's
Dillan Turvold Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 I think the best way would be to build it in pieces, maybe have the port the exact size of that opening into your cabin and fitting it up to that, you'd have to calculate how much port area and etc, build the port, mount it, build the box from there piece by piece
RobertR Posted September 14, 2012 Author Report Posted September 14, 2012 Any chance you could be more specific? Are you talking about an external port or a slot port. If I match my port to the opening that would be a 14 inch tall and 10 inch wide port. If my math is right that would be 140 inches of port and Im pretty sure that is a little more then what i need. I already have a box design and size. I just need to figure out the best way to build the box inside the trunk. 412 CVX Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 account for wood thickness. take 1.5 off of both measurements. Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. My temp system build log More box buildssome cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches! I'm with captain stupid.
StoneCold455 Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 When you make the box for the two Sundowns, you should separate the chambers and use 4 inch aero ports. Write that down somewhere so you don't forget it.
412 CVX Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 no need to separate chambers here. subs often work better in a single chamber. Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.
