I'm kind of new to this whole car audio field, but anyways.

I have a 2005 Honda Civic, and I have a Dual XDMA7650, little cheap receiver, to replace the current factory one. I want to install it, and I know how to take out the whole dash and everything, but the only thing I have questions on, is wiring.

Do I need to buy a harness, from what I've read it isn't necessary, and all it will do is make it easier for me, with the fact I don't have to cut into my factory wires. Can I just cut the wires, and then connect them? If I can, do you guys know a guide I can use to get what wire is what?

And with the extra wires that the new head unit doesn't need, can I just tape those off with electrical tape, and then leave them there? Will all wires be used?

Like I said, I'm really new to this. I haven't installed a head unit before.

Let me know what I need to do. Thanks.
