What type of car/electrical?

The gauge could be off.

Try metering the voltage at the battery and at the amp with music playing on a decent meter and see if you get the same results.

With the prices off good quality equipment these days, it's never a good thing to assume anything. What equipment are you running anyways?and what is your electrical, extra batts, HO alt? The more info you give the better we might beable to diagnose your problem

Shouldn't be reading that high on a GM h/o alternator. Check it with a good dmm. It should real a lot lower. GM alt's usually do 14.8 at the MOST when they're cold. Once they get warm it sits around 14.0-14.3.
