T-line v.s. .... ?

Right now I'm running a t line box tuned to 35-37Hz.

Wanted to build a new prettier box, so im selling this one and starting another.

The sub will be an Alpine Type R 15 Motor, dual 1Ohm VC, turned into a 12 By Ken @ Faultline customs.

Right now im under powering the sub with a Fosgate 600.1BD

I wish i knew the fs on the sub... so im kind of going half blind into this. The current box does some serious damage between 34 to 45hz.

But it completely falls on its face around 27. also it would not be labeled by any means as a SQ box.

This next one i would like to make it a little more of a SQ setup, that hits a slightly larger bandwidth. But i still love the amount of sound my t-Line puts out.

And pros out there that would like to chime in?

Im up for trying anything new! 4th Order, slot port, Areo Port?

Also, its in an older 90 Civic Sedan. The box is currently sub port back, but i had it sub port forward, sealed at the trunk "wall" But it wasn't much louder. I guess t_Lines need the extra wavelength to generate noise, so its louder bouncing of the trunk. But if going a different style, i would like to trunk wall it again, if possible.

Thanks for any input!

I believe you can find the Fs of the sub by hooking up an ohmmeter to the coils and playing different frequencies/sweeps. The frequency where impedance is the highest is the sub's Fs. I'm not 100 percent sure this is correct, so if someone can confirm/deny, then that would be great!

i love my tline, i love the output and the SQ, i can play just about anything loud and sound good as well. I cant go back to a normal ported box

Only draw back with tlines is that there huge. Mine holds 2 15s and it lowered my truck 2 inches and i think its what broke one of my leaf springs.

I think all your box needs is to get painted or wrapped and itll look good and fresh

My T LIne port is 13x5.5.

From what i have learned, you can gain a little SQ by making your port 95% of your cone area, insted of 100%.

So this next one will be more like a 13x4 Ish

Yeah my port is smaller then it should be because of the power thats going to the subs

whats the qts and qms of your type-R? cause if its high that could be the reason the frequency drops off so bad. for a t-line you want a really low qts and qms sub.

and actually i just saw that it's kind of a custom sub. it's kind of hard to say what would be an awesome box with out knowing the fs and qts and stuff of the sub for sure.

as far as getting more SQ out of a t-line, i've seen people taper the port.

tapered = more SQ

horned = more SPL

Sold me T-Line today.

Put it in the new guys car, wired it up using an FLC Alpine Type X.

And i am not happy with how loud the box was....

It was Much quieter than with my system...

starting a new box tomorrow.... still unsure of what box to do...
