Help With Scion Build Looking For Suggestions On Subs Either 15's Or 18's

^^^^follow this mans advice. His Scion is a beast. My girl and I own a 2008 also, and I've measured between the humps in the back and have gotten measurements. 40" between the humps(another 6-8 could probably be had once you've cleared the height, possibly with a fiberglass section), 19 will keep you below headrests, and I'd say to the back hatch you've got maybe, 20-22" on bottom and 16-18" up top depth wise. The depth is an estimate as I don't plan to run one to the hatch. I will do something MUCH more creative in her car.

Don't even THINK about equipment until you've figured out what kind of power you're willing to supply your system via alternator and battery bank. Mike Singer will do a 270A alt for reasonable(I'd rather not give his price publicly).

Figuring out also, what type of airspace EXACTLY you want to play with and how much power from Amps you are willing to provide. Enclosure for the subs will be one of the biggest determining factors whether or not you're loud. Me personally, I'd tune low and make a wind tunnel out of the car, fuck numbers, low is so much cooler.

That's Exactly What I Want Low As Hell. I'm Willing Too Use All Of The Cargo Space.With Amps I Have A Re 5000.1 And Two Hifonics 2100. I understand the electrical part somewhat and that's what im workn on now. So basically I'm tryin too figure out box design. I'm kinda set on the XXX's though

XXXs aren't built for SPL. They have a damn Xmax of like 54mm. They are definitely catered to sound quality and not SPL. PLUS they're fucking stupid expensive for what you get, a name that USED to be worth a damn. Unless you have some great hookup on the subs, much better options for HALF the cost can be had. Those subs will get low though, they've got that goin for them. Alot of your big subs with low Fs will get you there though. I'm going to assume you have no idea what I'm talking about so I'll keep it simple: get a box designed by a guy that knows what they are doing, with your specific goals in mind. THEN decide what equipment to run after you have ideas for the box(box should obviously be designed specifically for the subs you want but I have to stress the proper design element of what I'm trying to get across to you). 2 15s that handle anywhere from 1000-2000 Watts RMS will suit your needs. Honestly, just pick a brand, they'll all please you. I'd stay cheap since this may be one of your first builds like this. I'd go with the Fi SSD, as the 15s are really affordable, as are the 18s. You've got the airspace to make 2 big subs happy without throwing tons of power at them.

O Na I Know Exactly What Your Saying I'm Not Dumb When It Comes Too This. I'm Just Trying Too Make This Stay And Not Get Bored With It. The XXX's Was One I Havnt Tried I Heard Em Before And Liked Em. If You Know Sumn That Can Get Just As Low And Louder Well Shit Let Me Know.

O ok den... Do you know if the havoc is better sealed or ported??? cuz i don't have alot of room for an optimum port size unless its jus one

Well f you are wanting SPL then ported would always be the best choice. The Havoc's i heard were 18's in a ported box in a Jeep. They were good for SPL, I would try to do a ported box. The differences are pretty big, most of the time the box means the most in SPL. I am getting a Transmission Line box put in and that will make the SPL cabilities of my setup much greater than just a normal ported box.

I would just look around for some subs that are good for what you are looking for with the small space.

One subwoofer you could look at is the Earthquake Sound DBXi they have a 10" version and it is pretty good, it moves a lot of air.

For daily ground pounders that are way underrated look at the lower level Ascendants like the Assassin, and the Arensal. They would be good for a daily system that sounds good and can beat if wanted. Now box all depends on music for this. If you are a rock guy then a sealed box is best, if you are mostly rap then ported is best.

Now these subs's boxes are very small relative to their outputs and you would be happy with either one. Now you could over power them to some extents and be alright doing so.

Now for what you decide I wish you luck and I am sure you will enjoy your system.

I seriously thought all of us were past the whole sealed is for rock and ported is for rap thing. There is zero reason you have to use a sealed box with rock music. Zero. A ported box will perform equally with a sealed box.
