looking for approval for c pillar wall design for 2 18s

hey everyone!

Ive just picked up a 1994 Chevy Astro van and it is going to be a project car for a while. Ive got 2 18" RE MT subwoofers with dual .7 coils.

Ive also got an AudioQue 3500 amplifier that will be powering them both at .7. The electrical i will be having is hopefully a 350 amp alt, a xs d3400 under the hood and 2 d3100s in the back with 2 runs of 1/0 gauge. anyways, the goal of this build is to be walled off behind the 3rd row bench seat, and be able to do some pretty crazy hairtricks from the front windows-and be a daily musical build.

so, this is the box design that i have come up with so far. any constructive advice would be appreciated! TIA

by the way, the huge opening in the back of the box is a large 1.25 inch sheet of plexiglass that i am going to use to see in the box.

just wanted to get your input for my first wall build.

and by the way, i plan on using clear pvc for ports and rounding over the wood baffle on the face to reduce wind noise. i will also be using wood on the back of the ports and rounding them over as well.

do you guys think the 4300 watts rms that this amp is capable of is too much for these subs to be playing all day in this box?

and just so you know, everything in this box is double baffle except for the face, which is triple baffle. there is going to be one steel brace right in the center of the plexiglass that will be going from the front to the back of the box.

you dont think 1.25 with a brace right in the center will be sufficient?

With just one brace in the middle you'd still have large unbraced areas...I'd be worried about excess flex, but it may not be enough to make a difference.

alright, maybe i will add more bracing.

by the way, the window is 49 x30

you could always use acrylic rods to brace with. They are clear and you could probably use the right glue with a few of them it might hole. Otherwise you would have to find a different way to mount them so they don't come loose. but at least you could stay with the transparent theme you have going.

awesome idea, it seems like it would be well worth the money for it!

im thinking of doing mirrors for the inside of the box, but not quite sure yet.

your port area per sq is a little on the low side ... recommended is 12-16 port area per ft.

Aeroports clearance ideally needs to be 6" from the plexi, something to look at depending on it's placement and thickness. Since the MTs are custom you should have been given custom specs so, the answers to many of your questions would be better answered posting those.
