I seen this rf bld it puts out 11v rms unbalanced and 22 rms balanced.

Don't amps only accept so many volts input on the rca's?

whats the difference between the balanced and unbalanced settings?

Thanks guys there isn't alot on the rfbld...

Correct, amps will only accept a certain voltage level.

The RF BLD does put out 11V unbalanced and 22V balanced but the output is adjustable.

The RF website has a manual on it.

Most car audio equipment is unbalanced. Meaning the positive conductor fluctuates and the negative conductor is held at ground potential (0V).

In a balanced connection, the positive signal is reversed and applied to the "negative" or other conductor.

Both conductors are now out of phase, when the "positive" goes up, the "negative" goes down and vice versa.

Since they are out of phase, your voltage across both conductors effectively doubles. The "positive" conductor rises to 11V and the "negative" conductor rises to -11V (with respect to ground).

The resulting voltage across the conductors is now 22V. These are also called Differential Signals.

Balanced signals are great at reducing noise, Assuming your amp can accept them.

Heard of "twisted pair" signal (RCA) cables? They're really only effective with balanced signals.

If you don't have balanced signals, then they're just marketing hype...

Here's some reading:

Hope that helps!

So this is the only driver I've seen with balanced our unbalanced selection and high rms.

Why is it so inexpensive? To good to be true our a solid peice of equipment?

Just trying to get the noise out of my system while funds refill for a new hu I want.

Any advice our opinions?

Not a lot of companies work with balanced inputs. Even in home hifi this isn't common technology. Audison had this 10 years ago, but the system wasn't really successfull all in all because if you plan and install everything correctly there is no need for. Most important is grounding.

Problems with noise are mostly grounding problems (even ground burnt out in a radio) or RCA cables lying too close to noisy wires (wit h a pulse signal) or RCA's close to electrical motors (due to the moving magnets).

And that would be my advice -_- check your cabling first.

Ok I have a little noise... Not really my issue though, but I do want the noise gone so thanks I am going to get nice knu rcas... And plan my routing and ground my hu and rcas...

My problem is I don't like turning my gain up so high like I have to with my hu..

Would a bld help?

What's the price of this BLD & what does a half decent radio cost?

I'm not a big fan of additional electric components. All I learned is they can be additional noise sources, but there are a lot of people over here using them, so my approach may be wrong or just old pratice

I have 5 speakers in my car... tweeters included :pardon:

Idk the deh-80prs is like 275$ but the rockford 3 sixty balanced line driver is 50$ temporarily so I'm going to get that and see if it'll hold me over.

The hu is my last thing I need to buy everything else is were I want it for now

ok first of all turning you gain up so high will create distortion and that might be what your hearing. adding a bld will only increase the voltage of a poor signal, increasing that voltage by 1 or maybe 2 volts might help and as the rockford site says the bld helps reduce noise.

secondly, where did you find the deh 80prs for 275? cheapest ive seen is 350.

Shitty line voltage equals high gain rf line driver equals high voltage equals low gain

am I wrong?
