I'm looking at getting 2 sundown audio 12s they will either be sa12d2s or 4s. The amps I'm considering with be the hifonics brz 2400 or the sundown saz 1500. Which amp would be best in this situation and why? Any replies appreciated.

I would get the D4 so it can be wired to 1ohm and then run it off the SAZ1500D. If you get 2 D2 you can wire it down to 2ohm and then I would get the Hifonics BRZ2400 but It might be pushing it a little to far. I'm am sure somone with more experience with these subs can tell you how much you can push. I am sure they could take the extra 250watts with your amp setting correct but I could be wrong.

Car: 2012 Acura TL Elite

Front Stage : Alpine SPX-17PRO

Rear Stage : Alpine SPR-60C

The SA-12s have no problem taking way more than their RMS wattage, especially if you recone them with the SPL coil options down the road.

I see no reason why you cant give them 800-1200+ watts rms per woofer daily if your box is good, and you keep the power clean.

we pushed a pair of sa12s with spl coils with 2 sundown 4500s, without issues, and still work fine. Of coarse they will get hot after a couple minutes of straight full tilt banging, but its a lot of power going to a 2.5inch voice coil that is rated at 600rms.

It comes down to your budget. The hifonics is not a bad amp, Id probably buy that because its going to be a tad cheaper in price if your looking at buying it new, and get two sa-12s that have dual 4 ohm coils, than you can parallel both coils together and parallel both speakers together for a 1ohm impedance at the amp.. A decent box, and a proper set gain, you should have no issues.

Also, no VS threads are allowed, meaning no questions asking which amp would be better hifonics or sundown. Its easy to find reviews and clamped power results to know what the amps perform and anything else with simple searches on forums or even google.
