would one l7 15 be a good setup for my car or would 2 12s be a better fit. what are the pros and cons of each setup

It's depend on what kind of power you got, how much space, etc. etc.

Judging by the fact that you said car, I assume this is going in a trunk. I would go with a pair of 12s. Much easier to fit and do properly. We wont go into the equipment choice though.

12's would need a 6 cube box, about.

15 would need around 6 as well.

that will be a challenge to fit in a trunk.

Kicker subs like larger boxes and trunks dont like fitting big boxes.

I am not just talking out of my ass as a kicker hater, I have run kicker(Solo Xs and L7s) I liked them, but would never run them again.
