info on amp setup for highs/mids

in a car that comes with 4 5x7 speakers in his doors 2 front 2 rear. its a 2007 ford fuzion standard. he wants to add 2 6X9's to the back area over the trunk (the ports are already there) but im not certain on how to wire the amps/speakers. i had thought of running a 6 channel amp but they are stupid expensive, then i thought about a 4 channel with 2 channels at 4ohm powering the front speakers and 2 channels at 2 ohm powering all 4 rear speakers.

or going with 2 amps, 1 4 channel and 1 2 channel. these are the amps/speakers i was looking at but i dont know much about the rockford brand of amps, is there something better or are these sufficient? also price is a concern here as well.

the speakers would be alpine 6X9 and 5X7 rear and the alpine component 110W 6.5" front.

will these amps do the job?

Does he plan on putting a substage at any point? I wouldn't replace stock plate speakers with aftermarket plate speakers. ROUND or die! Seriously though, a 5.25 component set should fit in location for the 5X7s and the 6X9s should be ditched altogether in favor of subs for good bass. I wouldn't go though(me personally) the trouble of doing my soundstage all amped up and NOT have subs(or sub) in the car.

To answer your question though, the amps are perfectly fine and should get the job done just fine.

we intend to install a 12" fi SSD in a sealed box in teh trunk. the 6X9's would be for more rear volume in the mids/highs.

is a plate speaker the non round ones?

would it be better to install round speakers int eh doors instead of a 5X7's? should we have aditional tweets in the rear or only have some in the front? the tweets will require modding to install as there is no factory port for them.

With door speakers in the rear, that's enough. You don't need sound coming from right behind your head. The sub will be back there and drown it out anyway. And yes, plate speakers are ovals. Stick to just a set of components for front and rear. Don't put anything in the rear deck which is where I'm sure the 6X9s are. No additional tweeters will be needed if you get a good set of components for the front and rear doors.

so the fronts should be the component with seperate tweets that sit at ear level and the rear doors should be a component with the tweets in teh center of the speaker cone? correct?

Sometimes less is more.

I would do 2 sets of 6.5" comps in the front on a really nice and powerful amp to run them with and call it a day.

so ill put a 6.5 with 1" dome tweet in the front and a 6.5 with center cone tweet in the rear. leave the 6X9 out of the mix. with that a single 4 channel amp should run them just fine no?

what about polk audio over pioneer? i have heard that polk makes some sweet speakers?

It really comes down to your budget and what kind of quality you might be looking to have that will determine the route to take in gear choice.

I happen to be partial to the hertz brand and recommend them as my first speaker of choice, there are so many nice sets of comps out there to choose from that you really need to go to as many stores as possible, and listen to as many speakers brands as you can to get a good feel for what you would like to buy.

ill look around, i just heard that my friend got some old 6.5" components form his uncle. i think they are kenwood but ill check them out when he brings them by. we may use them i suppose.
