glad you're all good and the truck still runs, since you're replacing the front end now would be the time to do a pre-runner front end.

Yikes dude :/

New bumper new grill.

I bet you had some fun though lol

I've never taken my baby muddin lol

I don't have the balls.

lol yeah it's always fun to get a little dirty :) and that hard part is keeping everything clean enough that i wanna work on it later on.

thats not mudding, thats just splashing ; )

lol street tires and like 4" of ground clearance. it's the best my little ford can do :P

at least for right now ;)

glad you're all good and the truck still runs, since you're replacing the front end now would be the time to do a pre-runner front end.

that was my exact thought. haha not too happy about having even more work on my plate now with still no time or money for anything but hey at least now i can do what i want!

i have a couple ideas about how i wanna go about fixing it..... (:

right now im thinking 2000 and newer hood (one with the bump)

2000/newer grill (flat black)

tube bumper with more lights!

  • 4 weeks later...

well school had been crazy but finally getting update now. i promise lol

heres another pic of having some fun in the mud with my truck

WP_20131104_008_zpsece6339e.jpg

so first of all to be dealt with is the roof. i decided that if i was gonna deaden the roof i might as well do it once and do it right. so i decided to go with deadening it with some left over 3/4" mdf i had. that way it'll be a long time before i have to modify it from bigger systems. so i cut out some pieces that fit pretty well and then used jacks to hold them in place while the PL glue dried. i also glued the stock center support back up while i was in the process.

no i was debating taking out the stock supports and doing one big piece but i decided against it for various reasons like having to figure out the dome light and what not. my goal for this whole thing was stealth. so everything needed to look stock once i was done.

so here's the front pieces in place drying

WP_20131022_003_zps64db910c.jpg

and then i did the back piece. i also did away with this little pull out cover part of my truck for the ext cab part and that gave me room to do a piece across the back of the cab to help give support there. so i did all those pieces at once.

WP_20131024_001_zps0d09ea94.jpg

almost ready

WP_20131024_004_zps0933d0a3.jpg

and back piece is in

WP_20131024_005_zps1c1dac24.jpg

then it was time for the back roof piece.

WP_20131024_009_zpse4f87018.jpg

WP_20131024_010_zps036e3e4e.jpg

and it's up!

WP_20131024_012_zpsa3409ac5.jpg

and anyone say....2X4 roll cage? :)

WP_20131024_015_zpsd35231fb.jpg

each stage i left for almost 2 days to dry at least. sometimes more. and i prepped each surface by sanding the paint to scuff it up a bit and then rubbing alcohol to clean it.

then i spent a good week or two slowly filling in all the cracks and spaces in the entire cab with expanding foam. that stuff is sticky!! and got everywhere but im happy with how things came out. sorry i didn't get a ton of pictures of the process cause lots of time it would be me working at like 10 at night after classes and and my camera sucks at night time photos.

oh also in between the different roof sections i made braces and screwed them in to place and glued them to each board and to the stock center support. and in the end i was really happy with the results! my truck cab is like a tank. i'll get more pics up here.

this bottle was toast but after like a day or two it slowly made this...

WP_20131103_005_zps5ec75411.jpg

anyways, here's the back board on the cab. i put foam in the gaps between where it's glue at and it started spilling out at the bottom lol

WP_20131106_001_zps8aa35e75.jpg

and well after doing about 6 cans of expanding foam and then shaving the excess and what not, here is the results! you can see the braces between the roof sections too.

so now i was done with the gluing/wood/foam/braces and stuff and it was finally on to the deadener i got! definitely didn't plan going this extreme when i first bought the deadener so i honestly didn't use as much of is as i first planed. and i also didn't get many pics of putting the deadener up. especially in my doors :P but i'll post pics soon

alright so my plan at this point was to take tons of pictures and show the actual deadening going on but it looks like i completely forgot lol i'll go tear my door panel off right now and so i can show you guys what it look like in the end.

here's my doors before:

WP_20131114_002_zps7ce05f55.jpg

stock deadener: (and some new going on above it.)

WP_20131114_003_zps074ec20e.jpg

alright well now i need to go tear my door apart to get the after pics. these pics are actually like a few months old now because school got busy, it started snowing and just been like below 0 for weeks on end and just horrible weather. but the weather is finally picking up! so time to work on my truck again finally!

oh and after doing all the deadening with the wood and foam and such, really the only places i had to put deadener was on the doors. the rear quarter panels behind the bucket seats and then some on the floor and anywhere else there was some flat bear metal from the window line up lol but the pickings were scarce there after the foam and wood and everything.

alright so here's my doors after all the deadening

WP_20140310_004_zps72a40089.jpg

WP_20140310_005_zps59f81228.jpg

inside of the door.

WP_20140310_006_zps4b2d8df7.jpg

WP_20140310_007_zps36844631.jpg

and the i took some shots of the whole cab put back together

WP_20140310_008_zpse186c532.jpg

WP_20140310_009_zps1b428402.jpg

so one thing the roof deadening did was cause the headliner to slightly be lower which made the original holes for the handles and visors and what not slightly miss aligned.

WP_20140310_010_zps924724e9.jpg

WP_20140310_011_zps34e7dab6.jpg

i also accidentally broke the clip holding the molding over the door when i was tearing everything apart so it's hanging down a little

WP_20140310_012_zps15a50e08.jpg

and then this is a horrible picture of it but the back of the cab came together pretty nicely.

WP_20140310_013_zpsee7fa6bd.jpg

and then this is viewing through the old spots for the speakers in the rear quarter panels and you can see the deadening i put on it
