noob to subs, and the site forums. been waiting around 25 days for my dcon 12 to be shipped, have everything else (wiring kit / amp / box ), when i get my sub im thinking about just installing it myself, is it easy enough to do even though i don't know anything about electrical / subwoofers installation? can you guys link me to a forum or video for steps on doing it? is it different for every car? i have a 94 s10 blazer 4dr 4wd. sorry this is probably the millionth time this has been posted

no not stock, i have the kenwood headunit, i dont know the model number but it has HDradio and has aux/usb slots. bought it a year ago.

It don't really matter the model I ask cause you'll need a set of RCA output but since you have a aftermarket headunit it'll most likely have them

If you already have everything, hardest part would be running the wires as sometimes that can be a pain or setting your gains. Most people use their ear-o-matic as to which works....for a short time then something blows or fries. So I'd hook it up and see if you can take it to a shop or have a friend who has a tuning instrument (DD-1, oscilope or however you spell that damn thing) if you don't have one.

Never ever take people's advice on how to set your gains when their advice is along the lines of "turn it up 3/4 of the way" or "turn it up all the way cause that's how mine's set. You'll be fine dude, don't worry. Nothing will blow"... every single car, every single setup is different. So if your capable, comfortable and such to install it yourself, by all means do. But if you don't have a tuning instrument, find someone or a place that does and will let you use it (even if they charge you a small fee) as $40 or whatnot to use it is way cheaper than replacing an amp or sub.

1. Disconnect the negative lead from the batterry

2.run you power wire from battery to the back were your will be (fused in front around a foot from the battery)

3. Run your RCA from you head unit to the back

4. Run the turn-on wire from you head unit to the back

5. Run your ground try to get a good ground

6. Mount your amp wherever you want

7. Connect all your wires to the amp

8. Connect your ground form your battery

Done turn it on make sure it turns on

And like wasted talent said tune it don't use the ear o meter

Ask here if there's any body near you to tune it for you

Any other question just ask

Don't run.the power.wire.on the same side as rcas

Plug the ground at the amp before you put the rcas in

When you connect the ground to the car some where make sure its solid and all bare metal sanded down w.e

No bass boost at the amp

No loudness make sure the headunit eq is flat well at least the low flat.

Turn amp lpf to about 80hz

Ssf or subsonic filter to 30hz

Gain at half or so

Do go above 3/4 headunit vol. Like 75/100 37/50 etc

Head unit sub level at 0

Triple check all connections make sure you dont flip the + and - at the amp.

These are very general guide lines and.should get you up and.playing nice.and.safely. unroll you can get.it.tuned and or learn more..

When running power wire through car make sure it dpesnt get pinched by pedals or parking break or cut up by a rough hole in the firewall etc etc..
