Derrick824 Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Posted May 24, 2009 It still has the Btls. Sometimes he runs 3, sometimes he runs 4. Depends on what class he competing in. All the RF amps are gone. Front stage is powered by Sundown sax-100.4. Btls were being powered by Sundown saz-3000s but we just picked up 4 new saz-3500s for it. To get into a lower local competition class he sometimes only uses a single Sundown saz-3000d to power 3 Btls @ 0.33ohm. Still does legal 149.6s @ 30hz with only one amp & 3 subs. Everyone who has seen/heard it with the single amp in there has been seriously impressed at how well that one amp pushes all 3 of those subs. We just upgraded the alts to dual 300a MechMan units. There's an install log in the MechMan section on here. I'll throw some updated pics in this thread as soon as we swap the saz-3500s in there.
fosg8fan Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 Very nice build,I too own an excursion w just 2 15inch subs..Competition aside 2 15 subs sound way better in the bigger ride than with most others..very low,deep bass that moves with the vehicle not scattering all over the place..people even say how neat it is..I guess cause all that sound is building up in such a big room way way way back their..Iknow your rear view fell off after the first bass note especially with FI and Fosgate the twin towers!! The side windows suck though I always drive with them open to let the bass escape cause they feel like they're about to fall off!! I'm close too slappin dynamats on those two rear side windows after I put in the other 2 15"s!! nice ride even kingsuv's!!

This one loves 30hz. Rear view mirror got ripped off a while back and took some of the windshield with it so it was never put back on. Both rear side windows have been blown out the truck. Yes completely broke lose from the truck. We tape them up at shows to help prevent that. There's a comp today and this thing will be there with all four Btl 18s and four Sundown saz-3500s doing some Iasca Bass Boxing. I'll make sure to get some pics & vids for ya'll.

I mean he couldn't possibly have needed more power? Was it power, size, durability, price? bad ass whip. I'd hate to put gas in that sum'bitch though. Looking for a CRX to get back in the game. And a gas tank for my 01 r6. Hit the PM

We made the swap because it's nice having amplifiers that can be wired to almost any load we put on them and the Sundown's are more efficient. I'm not saying that they are more powerful but in this truck we swapped from four RF T4ks to four Sundown saz-3000s and still hit the same TL #s. Not saying that'll be the case for everyone but I've seen it happen in more than one vehicle where more power is added in hopes for better #s and it didn't happen. In this vehicle we were able to go down in power, make it much easier on the electrical, and keep the same scores. He still does some local competitions where there's a limit on power in the class. It's nice to be able to wire three dual 2ohm btls all parallel @ 0.33ohm to one saz-3000 to get into a lower power class and still play music full tilt. bad ass whip. I'd hate to put gas in that sum'bitch though. Diesel is cheaper than regular around here. Being that it's a turbo diesel his gas mileage isn't that bad. I only get slightly better mileage out of my Explorer.

Damn i just checked out some claimed mileage outts the turbo diesel and damn some make claims of 17 18 mpg. I would have never guessed.. Love the build though. What would you guys recommend for a couple lvl 5 18's. I'm kinda up in the air on amps. I thought about the refurbs that were mentioned but am open to any ideas. I wanna push em' hard but reliably. Not trying to jack the thread but there doesn't seem like there's a lot goin on anyways Looking for a CRX to get back in the game. And a gas tank for my 01 r6. Hit the PM
