True, the specs are slightly different which can indicate various ways a driver may react. The bottom line is that the most subtle change in an install can drastically change the outcome enough that those numbers are nothing but a vague at best indication towards how it will perform. Also, things like the glue can be changed on any woofer! If you pay the difference, you can get your woofer built with a 2part epoxy that will out perform the standard CA glue. Also, things like Xmax is absolutely irrelevant unless you are playing the level 6 at 31.5mm and struggling. It is very rare for somebody to actually reach the BL or mechanical limits of a driver. By far, the most common failure I've seen is blown tinsel leads or where the lead runs down the former from bad signal creating excess heat. Like you said, both woofers are great and I'd like to play with either one. Just don't base your whole argument on the specs while adding your own guesses like longer coil and a "patent pending" former glue you know nothing about! But then again, you would want a massive stack of useless slugs and fully intends to destroy your own woofers. -Drew well Like i said I fully support both brands, DC is the shit hands down, I wasn't trying to bash dc at all. I also agree the slightest change in an install CAN have large effects. I also agree and am aware that subs rarely reach bl, but regardless the limits of the sp audio sub is superior, even if your willing too admit it or not. But how do you have any idea I am guessing. It is a fact that aluminum coils are USUALLY longer due too the lower resistance. The former glue is also not just a guess your wrong. I have spoken with the owner of sp audio with many many conversations on the subject, the stuff they use to hold the coil too the former is NOT like the rest of the glues every other sub company uses. It is the only reason I could explain an aluminum coil of the same size out performing a copper coil (other than the ventilation design leading to the pole vent) and possibly some other small factors. The 5th magnet for the sp audio sub would be minimal yes, But that isn't the only reason, I should have stated I would realllly enjoy the simple wow factor of a 5th magnet and possibly a little extra room for the coil, making it slightly harder too bottom out. Maybe even a very small increase in s/n ratio... I do not have full intentions of blowing my woofers, but when you have both subs over powered due too a false rms rating from kicker shit happens.. My conclusion is that, the only one making guesses would be you. everything I stated were simply specification FACTS, I did not guess on the coil resin used, Explain too me how wanting spare re cones available has ANYTHING too do with what i stated in the comparison of the two sub woofers. I am pretty sure your just guessing I'm guessing and making shit up, I'm not... Personally beefing up magnets and coils will only go so far... That is my (guess). why not simple increase the durability of the main thing that tends to give up in a sub woofer, and that is the adhesive that lets the coil slip off the former under extreme thermal conditions...Too me that is genius is it not? I have seen far more coil former/separations than tinsel leads shorting out, though I have seen both happen. No i have not called psi yet, but plan too :-) I have called kicker, they said the discontinued it due too the hard time they are having getting orders from the people who build the solo x's.
