cpmattin Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Ok, it's for a alpine type r 15" that I already have powered by a mb quart 1600W RMS ONYX Series amp. Sub is going to be facing the passenger side ( similar to current box). the port will be on the bottom of the box
Mlcantin Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 So what do you need help with exactly?
SnowDrifter Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 More port more box volume. Do "3" common port walls instead. A slot port down the center doesn't work too well for a single sub ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
SnowDrifter Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 And how can you have a 17" wide port? You need to take into account the width of the wood you are using. 17" box width - .75" per side gives you 15.5" wide. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
cpmattin Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 Yea I meant to have three, never had that software before and never made a ported box, and the recommended specs are 2.9 cu.
DFWxB Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Needs more port area... Rule of thumb for daily use it 12-16sq inches per cu. ft.
DFWxB Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 You also want the net volume to be 2.9 not the gross volume...
cpmattin Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 Should I keep tuning at 35 hz? I have no clue what my current box is tuned at but it is amazing on super low notes but on the higher notes it sounds like crap. And I'd need about 36 sq in of port area for 2.9 cubes right?
Joe X Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Yea I meant to have three, never had that software before and never made a ported box, and the recommended specs are 2.9 cu. What vehicle is this for?
