Lbox88 Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 6120/6121 basically the same thing, just a plain old motorola surfboard DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem. I think the one I linked for you was the 6120 that runs $80 at Target and 90-100 at worst buy. Just plug it into cable/power, give it a few minutes to download its info and shit from Comcast and let her rip. DON'T get the one that is a modem/router, buddy had issues with his and I think it was like an extra 60 bucks too. Think that one is the 6580 or some shit. UBL | Build Log

A good router, for our intents and purposes, with multiple slots in the back will just act as a passive switch as far as the ethernet goes, that also happens to broadcast wireless. Well, then you know, i no longer "RENT" theirs. Which is saving of like 9 a month... So,.. thats next..... BUT, is there a modem out there that is best? Lbox88 Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 I have had almost no problems with mine. There was one time it stopped working. Once. Unplugged both the cable TV box, and the modem, let sit for 15 minutes, pluged modem back in first to load up for 2 minutes, then plugged cable back in and haven't had that problem since. Motorola is a communications company as you know, and anything communications wise I look at Moto first. As much as that sucks to say. UBL | Build Log
