suckerfreebass Posted October 22, 2012 Author Report Posted October 22, 2012 if you read from beginning i clearly state its for 4th order so idk why the guy tried tellin me the specifications for a sealed box for my sub an i dont know why the other guy said its sealed inside ported like i didnt already know when thats the definition of a 4th order im just askin if anyone can help with the design im clear on what it is im tryin to make
CleanSierra Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 if you read from beginning i clearly state its for 4th order so idk why the guy tried tellin me the specifications for a sealed box for my sub an i dont know why the other guy said its sealed inside ported like i didnt already know when thats the definition of a 4th order im just askin if anyone can help with the design im clear on what it is im tryin to make If you knew what the fuck you were taking about, you'd know that a 4th order really needs the ported specs more importantly than the sealed. You typically make it a 2:1 or 2.5:1 ratio for the sealed side which would mean 6 ported, 3 sealed or 6-6.5 ported and 6 ported and 6 ported to 2.4 sealed(which I wouldn't recommend). I'd bump the ported side up a cube if 2.5:1 ratio is desired. This is all actually trivial because you really should be clear about what kind of power you're going to run, before getting a box design. This is ESPECIALLY true with 4th orders. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
suckerfreebass Posted October 23, 2012 Author Report Posted October 23, 2012 you dont use the ported spes for your sub at all i never said the ported specs arent important just not for a 4th order since you base the ported area from the sealed area so if sealed is 4 then use 2.1 ratio to figure out the ported area if you read an understood everything i said you would realize i do know what im sayin i was just askin for help on what ratio is best an if someone could draw one up dude

Real96SS Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 If you want a 2:1 ratio do 3 sealed and 6 ported.Just remember that the more power you throw at it the smaller you want the sealed section to be. If you want a peakier box go 3:1 or if you want a flatter response go 1:1. This is all my opinion and what I picked up when building my 4th order. I can tell you Im running a DC 9K on 2 BTL 18's in a 2:1 bandpass and I love it. First time I ever built a 4th order bandpass and it turned out as planned. Hope this helps you and as for the calculators I can help you with that when I get off work. Their actually pretty easy once you sit and play around with them for a bit. suckerfreebass Posted October 23, 2012 Author Report Posted October 23, 2012 i was considering 4 sealed an 8 ported or so but im open to all suggestions an i appreciate any help you can offer
Real96SS Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 4 and 8 would work but you want to downsize the sealed when you start over powering your subs. Not saying doing either would be better but thats just the general rule of thumb. What amp are you running? I know you said 2000rms but wondering from what amp.
