gadgetsandsound
I think you got the award for the most massive surrounds I can remember seeing. What all subs will use these? sundownz
I am not aware of a bigger surround in production currently -- the Earthquake Holee-S 15" surround is about the size of the surround on the 10" cone here; they get a bit bigger up to the 15" -- the 15 and 18" are the same size as the spiders will be the same size. They will go on 3" coil models (and later 4" coil) -- so currently X, Z, and NS lines. gadgetsandsound
Where is the X? It appears to be a unicorn! LOL Honestly, at some point, I wonder if the trade off in surface area is worth the added possibility of throw, but I am sure you have already ran those numbers! sundownz
Additional travel definitely out-weighs any reduction in Sd -- it also removes the possibility of excessive excursion related damage (usually tearing around the cone edge of a surround). As far as the X line ; I've held it for these parts. The motor completed this week for the first prototype -- I'd expect to be showing a 12" working sample in a few more weeks now that all of these parts are rolling out. gadgetsandsound
I have wanted to get my hands on the X line since I heard about them. I am sooooo tired of my locals drooling over the Memphis MOJO and I havent had a comparable offering in it's price/power class even though the X line would be cheaper and obviously should out perform.
