I'm working on an install for my nephew, anyways he's running a hifonics zeus 1000.4. He currently has a pair of old pioneer 5 1/4 coaxials in his front doors. They get pretty loud but the tweeter starts to crackle before I get to 1/4 gain at the amp, he wants it to be louder so I told him he needs to replace them so that I can turn the gain up a little and really make it loud. He has a 190 dollar credit on sonic electronix so I just wanted to get you're opinions on a LOUD reliable pair of 5 1/4 components, SQ really isn't a concern because i'm sure that anything will sound better than what he currently has. Loudness and reliability is my concern so lmk what you think I should order for him!

First, realize that gain is not volume. It is meant to proportion how quickly the amp maxes out based on the input signal that it receives.

If you want louder, get more speakers or a bigger amp.

Not to be a dick but your point is completely irrelevant to my question, I have a pretty good understanding about amps, rca input level, gains etc. I know it can get louder without adding more speakers, just needs better quality speakers to handle the power better and possibly a more efficient speaker.

Not to be a dick, but if you know what it needs, why are you asking the question in the first place?

Holy fuck dude. I know it needs new speakers, I just wanted to get others opinions on what would suit my needs best. If you're not gonna help get the fuck outta my thread already.

go with these

Since you have to buy from sonic, the ones posted above are on backorder, so I'd go with the DLS's.
