To start off, im fairly new to SMD but not new to the game. I havent built a stereo system in over 15 years and decided to put something together. I currently run a competition CB Suburban (Yes people still talk on CB's and its somewhat underground and very competitive). I bring alot of experience over to the stereo world with me because the charging systems and wiring are the same and require miltiple alternators and batteries to deal with voltage drop. With that being said... the stereo game is way different than it was in the 80's and 90's! Ive bought a few things from the SMD classifieds and turned one of my CB Suburbans into a starter SPL Burban. I am running 2 Leece Neville alts (320 and 220) The 220 is on the 12v side running the Sundown 100.4 and the 320 is on the DC 5k and is regulated with an external voltage regulator (Fatboy) on six 8 volt golf batteries with adjustable voltage from 16 volts all the way past 21 volts. Im running Polk MM components in the front and RF components in the rear doors and Kappas in the Back. Im also have four DC M2 XL-15's with the box being made by Darry Bowen (77-audio) on the forum. Im gonna eventually put more amp to the 15's (its barely moving them right now) but just starting off for now. Derek and Allen were involved in the tuning at Wobbly Woofers and i have the first video that im gonna try to post up the link (im not to familier with posting on the forum yet), so if i mess it up...the video is on Youtube, its named Icecream-Mans Suburban Thanks and i hope yall like my start.

How do CB competitions work?

Usually by invite only and there are different classes depending on the amplifiers your running. To sum up a long story and make it short, 2 vehicles line up side by side and both key up at the same time-the person in the first vehicle will say one word or phrase over and over for about 5-10 seconds ( I usually call the number 1,1,1,1,1,1), and the person in the second vehicle will say something different at the same time - there will be a person maybe 10, 20, 30 or more miles away with a watergate (recorder).... recording the keydown, the person that is heard the loudest on the recording wins the match. You can youtube CB keydowns and the list is neverending! It is not unheard of for people to put over $150,000 - $200,000 into a surburban (suburbans make great keydown vehicles) and run 5, 10 or even more alternators and dozens of batteries! The Blue and Yellow suburban that says 427 in this video has 11 alternators and 78 batteries in it and a bad a$$ big block in it, in the first run when he keys down you will hear the engine cut off - this is how much drain and voltage drop that CB amps cause!

your system looks great to btw. i want to do something similar in my expedition. What does your electrical consist of for your audio and key down truck?

I run a 90 model burban with 3 leese alts (i have room to run 2 more if i choose) all welding wire ran with six 8 volt trojan batts on the 16 volt side and three 12 volt batts on the 12 volt side. A 2x6 stroker amp driving a stroker 24 pill. Thanks for the interest and compliments! It definitely bleeds over on tvs and stereos and especially cop car computers! Lol!
