i have an 8.1 liter but i also have AT LEAST 3,000 pounds in extra weight purely because of the stereo

think about it like this...my fat ass weighs 270 pounds....would me being in your car take away 10 mpg? and i bet i weigh more than your stereo and i will beat anything it wouldnt take 10 or even 2 mpg away with just me being in it.

namosh:yes lol i have a bully dog tuner that tracks and remembers mpg over a period of time. it went from 13 to 10 around town.i can pull the dc van and a heavy trailer with a street bike in my bed totaling over 12000 pounds and only lost 5 (edit wrong key) mpg. so looking 3 is pretty significant for me.

My Taurus in my sig had nearly 400lbs in the trunk... reduced intow mpg into the low 9s to high 8s mpg. Hwy was somewhere around 12-14ish mpg. Before I got the system in it I used to drive it back and forth from kermit to lubbock 3 days a week. Which was a 3 hour trip 1 way (175ish miles) and I was getting 21-24ish mpg hwy. So yeah Id have to say it does.

Although..... now that Im thinging about it I did replace the rear coils with cargo coils and the mpg in town went up to 12-14mpg. Maybe check to see if you coils and struts are worn out.
