I took my car into my local audio shop to get an rca issue on the rear of my HU fixed. Basically it was not in correctly and very little sound was coming out of one of my 6x9.

When I got the car back I noticed that my Bass had dropped Significantly. I have two M12's and 2 SWR-12D4'S and when I got the car back they barely made my mirror move at all.

I checked the basics, Gain etc to make sure they did not change anything. They had not.

I took it back to them and the guy just kept saying he couldn't find anything wrong with it and I just need to turn up the subwoofer volume on my HU

(IDA-305s), I told him were he can shove that advice because I have always left it at 0. (As that is the setting I used when I did my DD1 tune)

When I got home I pulled out my DD-1 just to see if it could help me find out what was wrong.

Before I took it in to get the RCA fixed I had tuned my amps using the 40hz - 10 db track and my Gains sat happily at around 30%

I then re tuned them using the same track and it did not clip until the gains were all the way up to 80% (At 80% my bass was back and sounded like it use to)

I then tested my HU which use to clip when I turned up to 6. Now it doesn't even register it has a single at 6.

Any suggestions on what is wrong and how i can fix it.

Your bad rca patch cord was messing with all the settings not allowing for proper tuning, and once you replaced it everything should be as what it is.

The problem got fixed and you just had to retune everything.

What had to be repaired exactly?

Did you need new rca patch cords?

Was the rca pre-outs bad and needed replacing or repairing?

Take a DMM with your test tone and see what kind of voltage your getting out of the H/U and see if you get the 2v as claimed by the manufacturer.

I had a H/U that did some funky things shortly after i got it and was never quite able to get any of it resolved until i replaced it.

They told me that the Cable was not plugged in correctly, and they just plugged it in.

I personally don't believe them as it never changed or had distortion in the 6x9 it was connected to, it was just really quiet.

If the cable was loose or something, i would expect it to change when the bass drops or in just general driving.

How high does your volume go, because I can't detect signal untill about 20 out of 34.

And why don't you turn your sub volume up to max?

Volume starts at 75 and goes to 0, 0 being full volume.

Subwoofer Volume goes from 0 - 15.

With alpine 0 is max normal, anything above that is boosted, and causes quite bad distortion even at something like 5.
