barney91 Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 I love the color on that hoe, is it 2wd or 4x4? And agree the box is to tall keep it at the seat level and why don't you do 49" wide? that's wheel well to wheel well Alpine 9884 RF T2 comp set up front The Epicenter 2x RF T10001bd 2x Sundown sa-15 t-line Big 3 Smd DD-1
Joe X Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 If the box can be done wider I would also recommend a reduced height, for example with 48W this could be done: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 33 Hz Vb = 14 ft^3 External Height = 21 in External Width = 48 in External Depth = 35 in Port Width = 35 in Port Height = 5 in Cut Sheet List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: 2 x Top & Bottom (3 parts) = 48 x 35 Left & Right Sides = 33 1/2 x 18 3/4 Front & Back = 48 x 18 3/4 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 16 3/4 x 36 1/2 Port Left Side Assembly: 16 3/4 x 5 Port Right Side Assembly: 16 3/4 x 5 Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

62caddy Posted November 27, 2012 Author Report Posted November 27, 2012 Joe X, thank you again. I like the latest box a lot. Wider and shorter is great! It should turn out fabulous. Just two more questions though--that MDF brace piece inside the port, any specific size that should be, as not to affect volume and tuning frequency? Also, the two dowel looking braces in the enclosure, any suggestions on what to use there? Could I use a couple of pieces of 1" round tube stock and weld up brackets top and bottom to mount them inside the enclosure? I know bracing isn't rocket science, but I do want to follow recommendations by the fine folks of this forum. Overkill>underkill IMO. I love the color on that hoe, is it 2wd or 4x4? Thanks man! It's a 2wd. free bbox designsss!!! yayyyyyy!!! joe x to the rescue!!! no need to spend $20 here!! but donations are accepted ahahah to the OP, 62 Caddy, here on SMD we do not run a PWK, 412 CVX, or ram_designs operation. we all jsut here to help. I just wanted to throw a little cash to the fella who took the time to do this for me, since I'm a total noob at designing boxes. Woodworking is what I do for a living though, so I am definitely excited to take this one on. *2004 GMC Yukon Denali, black on black 24s, stock Bose Luxury system. *1999 Chevy Tahoe 2wd 4 door, Ford Earth Metallic paint, 6/7 drop on 20s ***System In Progress!!*** *1964 Chevy Nova Wagon---bagged, custom paint, Dakota Digital, custom leather seats, and much more! *2004 Honda Ruckus (yellow), low, loud, and stretched!
Joe X Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Glad you can do it wider, the brace inside the port won't significantly alter tuning (inaudible basically) but is very important as this panel tends to flex a lot unbraced, also is important that the braces to the baffle are mounted right above this brace, thicker wooden dowel rods can be used, everything needs to be firmly secured.
62caddy Posted December 6, 2012 Author Report Posted December 6, 2012 Well, after a few lunch breaks at work, all the MDF is cut and the main body is assembled! Tite-Bond wood glue and drywall screws are holding it together. Should be solid once it's done!! Joe X, thank you again for the plans. This thing is AWESOME. One of my coworkers came down and looked at it today. He said "I know! You're putting subwoofers in your home theater to rattle everything in the house, aren't you?" I said, "No, it's going in my truck." He just about passed out.
