Stupid question from a stupid person

well i put my single sa 12 into a ported box that i made its like 3 times louder at 1/4 the volume i was playing it at with a sealed prefab box, its gets loud(to me) at around 20/50 volume, before i put the box in i was playing it at 45 ish and to my untrained ear it was about half of the volume im getting now, what i do not understand is can i push it past 20 volume without damaging it. Or would putting the volume back at 45 be the same thing as having it on 45 with the sealed box i had for a month.

heres a vid of it at 20. and yes the box is laughable and vibrations sound like shit i havnt had much time to fix will be doing soon though.

What amp?

How did you set your gains too?

Know where your headunit clips at?

Also what's the box specs? Just curious.

i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah..

You want this to happen to you? Give decent handshakes people.

i dont understand your question but, your box is most likely better than a prefab (pending the specs).

also, set your gains properly, and figure out where your deck clips, make sure RCA's are good, and youll be louder.

my subwoofer played at +5 bass at 45 volume in a sealed 1.25 cube prefab box, but in this new box at +0 bass on hu, i turn it upto 20 and its twice as loud already and im wondering if power handling is different with diffent boxes

This is for a trunk car but it can be used in an ext cab for a while:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 34.5 Hz

Vb = 1.85 ft^3

External Height = 14 in

External Width = 24 in

External Depth = 17 in

Port Width = 2 1/8 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

Front = 21 1/8 x 12 1/2

Back = 24 x 12 1/2

Left & Right Sides:

Side 1 = 15 1/2 x 12 1/2

Side 2 = 16 1/4 x 12 1/2

Top & Bottom = 24 x 17

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Front to Back = 13 3/8 x 12 1/2

Extension = 10 1/4 x 12 1/2

specs are a little inaccurate, used a skill saw free hand for the whole thing

LOL there is your problem. right there. turn bass boost off. its fucking useless in 99% of cases. turn Loud off, Bass on 0, bass boost off, all bass enhancement "features" should be off. i really dont see why your gain is that high either. unless your headunit isn't outputting full preout voltage, it shouldn't be that high.

Probably no need to have the gain turned up that far to match the signal from the HU. the gain control pot on the amp is to match the level input from the deck, NOT a volume knob. With you just saying its at 3/4 to max position, I'll guess you're clipped hard.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

this

and yes power handling is different with boxes

bigger box, less power

smaller box, more power

generally speaking
