Wicks
Ok remind me, differential is which, unbalanced? I emailed Crescendo and asked them and they told me Unbalanced. ...really? With those fancy RCA connectors, I would have bet they were differential... Differential = Balanced Single Ended = Unbalanced You can check by ohm'ing out the outside RCA conductor to the amp's ground terminal. ~0 ohms = unbalanced. Regardless, where are you mounting your 360.3? That has differential inputs and selectable outputs. What I'm getting at is that you could make use of differential inputs by using twisted pair cables (even though you make those sweet COAX cables). So you could run twisted pair to the 360.3 and then COAX to the amps. Unless you have no noise to be concerned with, then by all means just go with what you have. I just recent my learned that my 5K has differential inputs..............after I went and got some nice SMD COAX cables.... When I ran it a little while ago, I didn't notice much for noise though so I'm going to try it out as-is and see how it sounds. They look good, but not that fancy. $0.75 a piece. They're about the cheapest metal ones out there. My 360 is getting mounted in the trunk lid. That was what I was thinking about doing, but I'm either going bluetooth or optical from the tablet in the dash for input, so really it'll be the output that matters. I just want to learn more about it and how it works. I don't think I understand fully balanced vs unbalanced. I'm good with pictures and understanding, but when I read it, it just isn't sinking in. No no, I meant the fancy Crescendo RCA connectors on the amps... Your RCAs are still pretty sweet though Dude, an optical connection would be LEGIT. No noise worries at all. No balanced, unbalanced blah, blah, blah, only one cable. Bluetooth could be even better since its wireless, but I don't know if I would trust it that far away (trunk). I've had flaky Bluetooth connections before where just a few feet causes issues but who knows about the 360. A music source like an iPhone/iPad to your HU, sure, BT from there would be fine. Yeah I agree. I'm pretty set on the optical for the tablet. I'm going to probably use the bluetooth feature for my phone. So I'll be using both really. I am a little concerned about the signal strength of the bluetooth, but at the same time, Steve has his up there and I don't think he has any issues and I'm pretty sure he uses his Ipad on the bluetooth feature in the Lex. I will send him a message though just in case I'm wrong. I was trying to find the email that Nendo sent saying that, but I can't seem to find it. So I'll have to go double check. So question for you, since I'm doing the optical and bluetooth, does that mean it doesn't really matter what i use from the 360 cause I can switch it? Or does it still matter because of how the amps are wired? > Yeah this x100! Love the coax cables btw! I just want to learn more about it and how it works. I don't think I understand fully balanced vs unbalanced. I'm good with pictures and understanding, but when I read it, it just isn't sinking in. Thanks buddy. We'll see if we can't learn this together. I'm going to more reading on it. Jamie (wicks) gave me a site to read, so I'm going to do that and hopefully it'll make some more sense after that. I'm happy to share what I found out after that. In the meantime, I have pics of goodies. I'll post up in a second. BRB! Don't quote me on this but I believe the remote knobs for the 360 can select your different sources by just depressing one of the knobs to cycle through the various sources. Don't know how you tell what actual setting you're on other than listening but maybe somebody with some real 360 experience can chime in, or I could read the manual i suppose Let me know how the reading goes. I can dig up more sites to look at. Tony D did a great job with his video but I've been contemplating putting together a visual chart that could hopefully get pinned on the differences since so many people have been asking lately. Wicks
Ok let's get started. I brought home some goodies from SHCA last weekend. Some I got before hand but most I got when I was there. Group shot! Kylar brought me some aluminum for buss bars, with a nice message on it! LMAO Mmmmmmmmm SHCA 1/0ga cable FTMFW!!! Grabbed a couple fans too. Haven't figured out exactly how I'm going to work with these, but they're better than the small ones I have. I have an idea, but I have to figure out if it's going to work or not. Some 8ga ring terminals and SHCA heatshrink, and yes those on the right say Remore Wire. Bad ass right!?! Second pair of XP950's. That gives me 4 now, and I'm done with those until I get installed and playing. I'll decide after that if I need more or not. Would only increase one more pair anyway, otherwise I have nowhere to put them! LOL Testing out of the box, 12.68v! and 12.71v!! But because i don't need them for a while, I thought I'd put them on the charger so that I can make sure they're topped off. I'll take this one off tomorrow morning, and then put the second one on and let it go tomorrow and tomorrow night. More coming JEALOUS of that storage shelf...but Dude, you need to put some more stuff in there!!! Nice buss bar, that should do nicely. I have those same two fans myself. Not sure if I can use them anymore though, not enough room. Hmmmmmmm Labeled heatshrink..... Why didn't I think of that? frickin' genius.... scooter99
Also got this little beauty in. Wonder what it could be for? It's a sunglass holder out of an 06 Honda Accord, which is the exact match to the one in my 06 Civic, with the exception of the sunglass holder itself. So why in the world would I want the same light fixture, but with a sunglass holder..................... Imagine in the roof Hmmmmmmm Ponder a bit. So then that was about it for that stuff. But then I got to work today, and I had a package on my desk. Yeah baby! A bunch of 12 pole barrier strips. I have a project on hold waiting for these to come in! Now I can get working on that one too. I have more stuff to go with this, but it's just relays, and connectors, and wire, etc. So Nothing really to show, but maybe I'll just take pics and show them anyway. But this isn't for my build, but just something I enjoy doing and I'm doing it for someone else's build. More on that another time! So for now, that's about it. I'm working on having a me day, cause I really want to just get out and enjoy the nice weather and get some build stuff done. But it's going to take some work to make it happen. So we'll see. Either way, look for some updates here very soon. I'm about to get on a roll! Thanks for checking things out guys! scooter99
That was freaking awesome bro. Just wish we had more time. We must do it again soon. Also, Laura said, "shit, we should have gotten a pic with everyone!!!" DoH' .... We should have. Cant believe we didnt think of that. Great work, and take care bro....... It was a pleasure. Man I thought about that on the way home! Sucks! That just means we'll have to do another trip for sure! LOL Don't quote me on this but I believe the remote knobs for the 360 can select your different sources by just depressing one of the knobs to cycle through the various sources. Tony D did a great job with his video but I've been contemplating putting together a visual chart that could hopefully get pinned on the differences since so many people have been asking lately. I'm pretty sure it's all in the programming. I need to read the manual too, LOL. I'm going to start reading here in about 1 hour and 15 minutes (Lunch Hour). I'd love for you to make one up. I'm way better at visual comprehension vs reading comprehension. JEALOUS of that storage shelf...but Dude, you need to put some more stuff in there!!! Nice buss bar, that should do nicely. Actually this shelf is out of my shop! I had all my tools on it before I built that workbench. I have another one out there, but I have to build another bench. All my gear really needs to go out to the shop, I just don't have room for it yet. So yeah, shelves filling up will happen very very soon! Yeah I think it will work well. I do have some thicker stuff in mind though for what I'm thinking of doing. But I have no doubt I can make this work too. My thought with the fans is to utilize the HVAC in the cabin. I have about 6 stinger fans, and I was going to use those, but these put out more air. But I may use the stinger fans now for exhaust air. Plans are brewing, just have to execute them! And I love this heatshrink! For sure! Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build

scooter99
So I worked on the amp rack tonight. I wanted to extend the panels out to meet the spare well walls. I was able to do that. But it's not working out the way I want it to and I'm getting frustrated. On with the pics. Only about an hours worth of work tonight. I used my cardboard templates from last time I worked on the rack, and drew out the wood to cut. This is just 1/4" ply. This is the piece that goes on the back flat side of the well. This is going to come back into play later. Other side Broke out my old trusty jig saw and got to work! So I got the base back in, and was ready to test fit the panels. Not bad right? Actually pretty good. Even cut a piece to go in the middle to fill that void. Now my issue here is the wood I have is old, so it's a little warped, and cause of that, it's not sitting very level. But I can fix that. This is my issue. I wasn't thinking about this when laid all this out. Using that flat panel on the back of the wall, I thought was a good idea, to give me a flat piece to work with. However after looking at this picture, I realized I'm going to loose about an inch to inch and a half of space I need for the length of the amps and the cable. So I'm frustrated at that. Why? Well because, and I was too frustrated to think about taking a picture, but in taking it out, it leaves my panels severely short. So I had to get the cardboard back out, extend those panels and get them ready to cut for tomorrow night. The other thing that I was getting frustrated about, and this is just my lack of experience with glassing, is the ridges, that I had to cut the panels around. In the picture above, you can see there on the bottom next to the tape, there are 3 there, and then 3 on the other side as well. I was trying to figure out how to get those glassed and looking right, but not thinking about it, i will be taping over it, so instead of 3 ridges, there will be one solid ridge. I'd love to cut them out, but I don't think that's very realistic. The problem with that is that I think the ridge is going to bother me aesthetically. But I'll have to deal with that later I guess. I'll have a trim panel over the top of the whole thing so maybe it won't be seen. The part that's hard to deal with is the frustration of having to think about these things, taking time for it, and not having much time to do productive work. But it is what it is I guess. So that's all for tonight, I'll see about more tomorrow night. Thanks for checking in! Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
